What are you gonna do when your twins die?
If you ask single turbo guy, they all would say they like it. (But, they would say that IF they get the proper set-up that they like.) But, the cost of going single is way beyond any kind of twin sequencial turbo.
Heh.. You guys with the quick spooling stuff. After you drive a big single you'll reallize that "lag" really isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Granted, I don't pull at 2K, but I don't drive at 2K either.. I'll whomp on nearly anything over 4K...

Someone point me in the right direction. I've been trying to do some searches with no luck today...I want to read up on a good comparison between the BNR stage 3's next to the 99 specs.
I purposely left out the big single setup that "other" category as I am more interested in opinions of people interested in the overall driveability aspects similar to the twins. I'd say a lot of the twins driving people like the quick spool, minimal lag of the FD.
I'm really tempted to go with a quick spooling single, but I can't afford the extra stuff associated with it right now - fuel system and intercooler etc. I have a BRAND NEW set of twins sitting in my garage and before I put them in I thought I'd get some input as to what other people are gonna do to see if my decision would be swayed.
I'd love to get a ride in a single to see how it feels. They are cool, but I think I'd miss the immediacy of the twins.
As for comparison between BNRs and Jspec turbos, check the catenet dyno page. I think the sticky is in the Single Turbo section.

It looks like the BNR's, 99 spec or go single is the only viable game in town??
Is there no reliable source for rebuilds, I know there's tons of shops that rebuild turbos for big rigs and such. Is it a parts issue, or are these twins just very hard to rebuild?

I hate to be the one that keeps bringing this up, but despite the apparent cost, independent twins can get you tons of flow with minimal lag - on the conservative side, a pair of T3 super 60's can support about 450+ HP.

For the money, the M2 twins seem to be the best twin upgrade with the '99 Spec falling next. After those two, I would just go with a rebuild of the stock twins (actually, I would order a rebuild kit and attempt it myself).
My original had 100,000 miles on them. With the reman, I went with a stock twin with less than 10K on them (which I bought back in 95 anticipating such need - talk about long term planning).
I debated going with an RX6 but the cost ($4000 for the turbo kit plus another $2000 for fuel upgrades) to me wasn't worth it.

I think I'll just order a new oil return line, coolant hose and gaskets and install my new set of twins.
