Question What would you do??

Ok for those of you who read my last thread?
I decided on getting a FD w/Blown engine for $7500.
Anyways car has the follwoing mods:
Pettit Racing Intake
" Downpipe
" Catback
" ECU
Blitz BOV
Upgraded Twins (I don't know how, thats what he said)

The rebuilt motor going in will have:
3MM Double Springed Apex Seals
Port and Plosh (street)
Silicone Hose upgrade
Fuel Pump

Now with this set up how much RWHP will that make?

I don't want it too be too much and a couple more options the builder suggested was to upgrade:
Clutch
Get a Power FC
Larger IC

I am trying to keep a budget of about $4000 and all the stuff i listed above that IS BEING done is included in that price.
Now is worth it for RELIABILITY to get the clutch and the other stuff?? and should i leave out the port and polish??
LEt me know I want the engine to be as a reliable as possible and let me know what electronic upgrades i should get as well? EX. Turbo Timer, Boost Controller etc.

with your first list I'd guess,...

maybe 250ish at 10lbs
maybe 260ish at 12lbs

+/- 10 rwhp

If you want reliability, I would skip the following:

* Street Port (unless you plan on going with a midpipe and completely killing the ozone) If you plan on using a midpipe, you might want to go ahead and do it now, and get the wastegates ported.

* 3MM Apex Seals (2MM seals are fine. It's probably costing you a bit for the 3MM)

You should look into upgrading the radiator if it hasn't been done. Add in an Efini Y-Pipe if there isn't one. You could add in the boost controller or a turbo timer, but I wouldn't worry about those right now. You didn't list anything about the AST. If it's stock, replace it or elminate it.

If you already have an upgraded ECU on the car, there really is no reason to change unless you are going to run larger injectors (or go single turbo).

I'd go with Evans Coolant and skip a radiator upgrade.
Figure 10-12 rwhp per psi boost.

If you don't plan on going with a midpipe, don't worry about porting the wastegates.

As for the Efini Y-Pipe, you can check out this link:

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/efini.htm

The Y-Pipe runs for a little over $200 or so depending on where you order it. Well worth it if you ask me.

As for the AST, it stands for Air Separator Tank. It helps keep air bubbles from forming in the cooling system. Some people believe it helps, some people eliminate it. The problem is, the stock AST is plastic and known to fail. You can eliminate it or replace it with an aluminum one. Here is the picture of Pettit's replacement AST:

If you have the Pettit ECU, that will be fine like I said unless you plan on upgrading your injectors, but it doesn't sound like you are.

no injector upgrades... i like the FD for it's styling and it's handling in the twisties... I'm not a big fan of just straightline driving, BUT I do enjoy a tiny street race every know and then..
Mahjik should i eliminate the AST or upgrade it, which makes the car more relaible?

You don't need to upgrade your injectors unless you plan on running around 14 or so pounds of boost.

As for the AST, it's debatable. I choose to upgrade mine (looking at my sig from the last message). In the least it allows for an extra pint of coolant for your system, however it also adds another break point in the cooling system.

That's the path I would go. Doesn't mean I'm right.

Not sure if there is a right or wrong, but that should attack most of the reliability areas.

BTW, I don't know if the car already has one, but if you don't want a midpipe you might consider a hi-flo cat. Not really a reliability mod, but a nice alternative for adding performance without some of the hassles of a midpipe.
