What would a 93 engine with 75k miles be worth...?
....assuming no known problems, compression ok and no hard starts, etc.
I searched but couldn't find anything.
Thanks

Practically nothing IMO. 75K is getting very near the end of the expected lifespan on one of these engines. Even with good compression numbers I'd still be leary. I'd also be afraid of the condition of the coolant seals. Considering you can get a fresh Mazda reman for ~$2,000, I'd say that engine would be worth $250 tops. Now if it came with all the accesories, turbos, manifolds, etc, then maybe a little more.

I hear you.
That being said...are there any other opinions (or has anyone seen one go for a price that they can remember?)
And no - just the engine block - no extra goodies

Hmm....and if I were to ship an engine...how much would it cost me? Now I don't need location specifics but say from somewhere in the US to somewhere in the US?
Does it weight about 500 lbs?

The motor is not 500 pounds . My guess is probally around 200 pounds +or- 50 pounds(just the motor no tranny) depending on how much you strip it . Shipping would be anywere from 150-550 dollars depending on where you live and its destination . Just my .02 though .

Yep Mazda thinks there worth 1k....I wanted a reman but also wanted to keep my old motor, had to think had about giving up 3k for a reman motor to keep mine. Even the shops are charging core prices to get a motor from them. Jack

You would get a Mazda remanufactured engine from the Mazda dealership.
I would assume that a Mazda dealership would install it but I wouldn't trust that unless you had no other options and were not capable of doing the job yourself.
I would personally not pay over $500 for that block.
