VA What is it worth?

So heres whats up. I have had my 93 touring model for about a year and half now. It has 93K miles and a freshly crapped motor. The car has a good amount of aftermarket parts in it, plus I have replaced alot of the interior pieces that tend to go bad with age with exception of the door handle. I have replaced the Guage hood, ac panel, shiter panel, the trim on the dash board by the windshield, and a couple smaller pieces that are on the doors, o and a new drivers side window switch as well. The car has almost flawless carpet, new floor mats, and a clean headliner.

For the bad other than the fact the engine is now ****, and the transmission has the 5th gear grind. The sun roof wont close without a nudge, the front end and rear bumper need to be repainted because like a *** hole i went sideways on a highway and both ends managed to scrape the over pass wall...(I dont know how this happened without totaling the car) And the cd player doesnt work because i was in the process of replacing all the speakers which i did, and running wires to the trunk for a 4 channel amplifier. So all it needs is a cd player at this point. Okay, for all the mods on the car.

m2 down pipe
apexi n1 dual exhaust
high flow cat (exhaust setup has less than 1K miles)
Fighters garage intake
Apexi Power fc, with controller
HKS twin power ignition system
Pettit racing coolcharge ii smic
denso fuel pump (rewired)
Greddy water temp/boost guage mounted on the pillar
Greddy turbo timer
Banzai Racing Differential brace
BBS RS ii wheels 18x8.5 front 18x10 rear (currently trying to replace one in the rear though as it got bent on the cars final destination drive... fml)

So any ways, selling this car as a "roller" what could I expect to be able to get out of it if I am patiend and find the right buyer? Im not neccesarily ready to sell it just yet because I do love it so much, but I honestly wouldnt have the time or money to get a rebuild, and go single like I want to for the next 3-4 years.

Definitely sell the parts separately - you will get diddly for them on the car.

You can find plenty of rollers in the classifieds or on the SpeedForSale site to gauge the prices, but $6k seems about average:

Sorry about the motor.

I would be happy to get 6k out of it. I just got married, so im really not going to have the time or money to put into it any time soon and its just a damn shame to let it sit around. I have about 18K tied up into it, but at this point its either get what i can, or put another 10K into it, to get it where i want it.

I would recommend getting a rebuild from Kevin at Rotary Resurrection. It will easily pay for itself and more when selling.

v8 it? Get that bull **** out of here....

Mahjik- Im talking to a friend here locally at the moment and he is willing to do a rebuild for me as long as i help him... Im considering it. I just dont want the twins back in this car. The only way i will put money into it and rebuild the engine is if i can go single turbo in which case I need quite a few $$$ to get the other parts like : fuel system, single turbo harness(pretty sure mine is shot), single turbo kit, fmic, I need a new radiator as well... Theres just alot that I need to get this thing going again. And I could see it taking me 3-4 years to finish it.

If you are going to sell it, why bother?

A running FD can easily get $10k if not a little more. You can spend about $2k for a rebuild and net the other 2-3k on the resale (i.e. 6k for a roller and 10-12k for a running car). If you have someone local who can rebuild it for just the cost of your own self helping, you can probably get it done for even cheap (provided the person knows what they are doing).

Kevin is located in TN:

My thoughts where either selling or keeping the car, Id really rather not sell it. If I feel like I can rebuild it and do the build like I want to I might just hold onto it and make it a 2 year project. the car will be paid off in August, i have two other cars so its not like I need to drive it. Its something i will have to think about for a while. With my friend willing to to the rebuild if i help him pull and reinstall the engine it seems like It might be worth keeping. I just know if i sell it, 5-6 years down the road I will want another one, and i havent seen too many as clean on the inside as mine. I just need to make up my mind on this, and make the decision to keep it or forever walk away from this amazing car. The smart thing would be to sell it now and walk away, but then again the smart thing would have been to never buy the car to begin with... lol I figure, I got it now, so we will see....

If you plan to keep it:

1. Figure out what you want from the car
2. Set a budget
3. Figure out what you can get from your want list within your budget
4. Execute the plan

I would suggest if you plan on keeping the car, pay for a quality rebuild from a shop who has been doing it for a while. Don't cut corners for you, only cut the corners if you aren't keeping it.

Keep it. Most of us are on our third motor. Learn from your mistakes and move on, you won't find another car you enjoy more short of a 911 or Cayman S, and those cars are common.

You'll lose your *** if you sell it now. What can you buy for $6k?

And you are convincing him to keep it?

If you love it, you'll hate it when its gone and you'll spend more than 6K or even 10K -15K to get another decent one.

Kevin Landers with rotaryresurrection.com is in Morristown, I am about 50 minutes away in Knoxville.

While I usually agree with Mahjik, this time I have to disagree as much as Kevin or myself would except your business the best plan money wise for you is to sell all the aftermarket parts(about $2500.00), sell the longblock/trans(about $700-1000.00 in current form) and sell the roller for about $5k with a clear title.

If you have a blown apex seal a rebuild is going to cost around $2k minimum no matter who you go with as there is about a 95% chance you will need to replace a rotor and housing. Consider in the price of shipping the block back and forth, install etc. And a running fd with a rough body wont bring more than $8-9k max. You will likely have another grand in fixing the body issues and the car will still likely only bring around $11k right now.

You could probably get over $8k selling the mods, longblock and chassis seperate and be done with it.

I dont think its a apex seal though, im 100% certain its a coolant seal. The thing started drinking, coolant, running really rough, like its on 1 rotor which it probably was and spewing white, sweet smeeling exhaust.... When it started doing that I could fill the coolant up and it would need about 16 ounces after 2 minutes of terrible idling...

Hopefully you havent let it sit more than a couple weeks at a time without starting it or you will be needing new irons and rotors from the rust that will be caused by the failed coolant seal Just keeps getting better, huh?

If I did order an engine from you, how long would said engine be okay sitting in a garage? Does it come packed in a crate or something that it would be okay stored in for a while? I ask this because i will probably order one soon, and when i get back from deployment do my entire build when i have some funds...

A fresh build can sit however long you like as their is no carbon. I can ship it in a Mazda reman crate if that helps you with storage. I am actually almost caught up on work for the first time in 4 years as I have stopped really advertising much due to my regular job taking up the majority of my time. I have a ton of good parts right now and some really high quality housings. Just let me know whatever you decide to do.

Tis a shame you aren't in the northern part of the state. There are several good shops up here.

Personally, I think you should keep it and don't let it sit too long before fixing it. Mine blew around 90K and it sat for 3 years while I gathered funds and got the rest of my life in order. Ended up costing me a lot more in the long run due to replacing a bunch of rusted and disintegrating parts. I'd say, either do what you can to get the thing back up now, or part it out and pick a new one up when you can afford it again. As said before by others: If you do fix it up to pristine condition, you will end up spending more money on the car then it will be worth. So I'd expect to hold on to it for a while if you do that.

But, let me know if you end up parting out. You have a few parts I'd like
