What up with the posted factory weigths?

I weighed my 93 r1 a few days ago with four gallons of gas some cd cases and miscs stuff it weighed in at 2673lbs but all the posted weigths
say an R1 should weigh about 2800 hundred pounds any explaintions or ideas maybe they had a full tank of gas but I don't think that would make up for the 126 pounds. Just thinking.

car weght (w/driver; 16gal of gas) @ 2961 lbs
-150 lbs (for driver)

The "sticker"?
As in the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) sticker in the door?
If so....that means nothing in the real world.

Look at your title, it will tell you, but more than anything else, look at the magazines, listen to those of us that have weighed our cars.

My FD weighs 2890 with a full tank of gas, and it is an automatic, base model.

What scale? What mods? Was the whole car on the scale at once or did you add up weights from both axles weighed individually?

I weighed my stock base model with 3/8 tank of gas and it was 2780. This was at a recycling center that paid people based on the difference in vehicle weight on the way in and out. I don't know how accurate the scale was, but it seemed to be in line with the numbers others had posted (from corner weighings, etc.) so it seemed reasonable to me.

My 94 R2, with a full tank of gas in it, in typical street configuration (i.e. with spare tire, jack, misc junk, etc.) came out to be 2790lbs.

The corner weights (this was done at a suspension shop):
with me in the car:
FL FR
RL RR
757 706
768 715

This is with the car adjusted to the same height at all 4 corners as a starting point, we hadn't even gotten around to tweaking anything yet. Needless to say, with a crossweight of 2lbs we didn't change anything. Without me in the car the cross weights did not change a great deal. Our speculation was that it was most likely due to the stiff springs on the M2 AD coilover suspension (550lbs/in springs front, 450lbs/in springs rear) and I don't weigh that much.

as was posted, that is gross vehicle weight. For every passenger (seat), you subtract 175 lbs to get the net (curb) weight -- this includes a full tank of gas, which adds up the weight quickly. Gas weighs approximately 8 lbs per gallon.

So 3210-350 = 2860 lbs including a full tank of gas

you lose weight from stuff like aftermarket exhausts, downpipe, midpipe, lighter wheels, cf or fb hood, etc. since most stock pieces are heavier than aftermarket ones (except for some wheels)

I went after they closed, at night. They leave the scale on.

That was before I put on the Apexi exhuast Every thing was stock.
I used a weigh scale at grain and feed shop both axles were on the scasle its designed to weigh dump trucks.

Crash, the stock tank holds like 16 gallons right, that is 12 gallons that you are missing, which equals almost 100 pounds that you have to add to your weight to get the true "curb weight" that is referenced
