I have had similar annoying situations, except mine would turn into "But my [insert car here] is much better". Then they start arrogantly rambling off exaggerations about their car, like they're trying to impress me.

I have had lots of people ask me about it at traffic lights and parking lots. Not too many offers to buy it but they want to know about the car. I must admit, I like the fact that a lot people don't know what it is. One guy pulled up in his AMG and asked about it. I do get mail offers from my local Mazda dealer once every six months. Since I buy parts there they must have me on the database. The letter states that it is a highly desired car and that they would like to talk to me if I am interested in selling her. I throw the letters away!

Talking

Now that you guys mention some funny situations, I recall one several years ago.. At the apartment complex I use to live at they had a free car wash.I
would take my FD religiously once a week, so I was washing the FD on a saturday afternoon when these pre-teen kids walk by and glance at my car and come up to me and said "Wow cool car does it have NOS?" when I told them no it
does not have NOS they seemed so dissapointed

This was after the release of the first Fast n Furious movie when all the little kids and ricers thought it was En Vouge to have NOS in your car.

The line "My car is too fast and doesn't need NOS. NOS is for slow cars" usually works for me.

I've had the stop light solicitations and kids cutting lanes just to get beside me to ask if I would sell. There were a few times they followed me until I arrived at my destination to ask if I would sell.

I was changing my turbos out yesterday when a guy walked up to talk about my car, He said he had a 240sx I was going to buy one of those but I found a good deal on the RX-7 so i took it, and the guy said I should have bought the 240 instead I don't think he liked me laughing at him.

It wasn't like this when I had the car at school in North Carolina, where yes, offers were routine.
Where in NC did you get all those offers? Maybe I should go to that area then? All I get are BS offers when I tell people ONE of my FDs is for sale. Everyone wanted my single turbo FD thats got a ton of money tied up in it, but no one wants a almost entirely bone stock FD with 66k original miles on it. Guess people just want a fixed up car so they can be cheap bastards and not have to pay to fix it up and not have to put in the time to research the mods. that they will need to do to squeeze more performance out of our cars.

Maybe it could be that it is an automatic....

Not knocking on the automatic FDs, 66,000 original miles is sick, but you know what i mean...

I'm almost sure it is the automatic. When I used to check FD pricing every month, I noticed the autos always sold for 1-2k LESS than the manuals. I think the FD is the only car I have ever seen where the auto sells for less than the manual. Noone simply wants the thing.

I have owned my FD for a little over a month and people nearly **** themselves when I tell them it's a 93'. People who know what kind of cars these are love these things. I have gotten people offer me for the car at prices above what I bought it for but I tell them it's my dream I won't let her go, the only crazy thing about it is that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE tries to race me in this thing. It could be ricers, people in porsches and M5's even freakin semi trucks and bus drivers (im seroious) try to get me to mess with them. I sometimes kinda worry that my FD will end up killing someone because they tried to race me in their mini van and hit a wall or something...

When asked by a blond "Wow, what kind of car is that?" I replied "a Ferrari 420 Manicotti," and got away with it. Why not? if people are dumb enough to ask have some fun with them.

If someone died racing me in their mini-van, that would make my day. Darwin's theory, you know?

Agree that it's wishful thinking. I get lots of admiring comments. But when I say "wanna buy it?" no one is seriously interested.

My '94 is dying, but it's hard to imagine driving anything else.

If you want to see a car that is appreciating in value take a look at Supra's especially the twin turbos they go for 50+grand for low mileage. that is a seriously fun investment!!! i should bought a twin turbo supra when it was like 30grand

Forgot to mention... When I first moved into my neighborhood a year ago, I had 3 different people knock on my front door and try to convince me to sell them my FD. I don't know what surprised me the most. Them actually knocking on my door, or the fact that all 3 of them knew it was an RX7 (mine only has Efini badges).

I used to get offers when it was running and I was driving it all the time, haha. HELL no was usually my response, and will continue to be.

I think when people offer to buy it all the time, they usually think maybe they can get a good deal on a sweet looking car, not knowing the dedication it takes to owning one, and not knowing it's gonna cost upwards of $15k to buy a ~15 year old car, haha. I can't see ever selling mine though, even when it's down for a year like it has been now.

That dude that came in with $1600 though...I would have slapped the **** outta him for even thinking that, LOL.

I often have people taking photos of my car when I come back to it. And I have also noticed that people are often too intimidated to race the FD. My old car was a wrx, and people used to race me all the time.

I pulled up at the lights next t a wrx a while ago. He was revving and looked like he was goingto race. Then I take off, and he is left sitting there, he was not racing. We get to the next lights, and he puts dow his window and says.....that sounded f**king awesome!

When I have previously posted about selling my car I have had offers within 24 hours. And then I realise that I really don't want to sell it at all! It definitely starts alot of conversationgs and gets alot of attention.
