What is up with Hayes Engineering's rebuilding job

I was just gonna buy a car with a rebuilt engine with streetport done by hayes engineering in June of 2000, but the engine went out yesterday. The housing seemed to have gone out. The car wasn't running lean cuz the car was tuned every 3 months by xs. What is up with their rebuild? Are they just bad or what? Do you think they'll still fix it under warranty even though it is 4 months passed the warranty? What you guys think. thanx in advance

I think its hayes that does the re-chroming of the rotor housings. All i can say is, THERE ****! If you want it done right, just go to Pineapple Racing. Rob is the man. CJ

I have not yet bought the car, but i am thinking of buying it and then getting the engine done. Who's good at it with a reasonable price. Tri-Point is very close to where the car is at now, but they charge way the f*ck too much. Is Mazdatrix any good? Where is this Pineapple Racing place at and how much do they charge?

one of the guys in our car club just lost his motor. It was done by Hayes. The motor was supposed to be ported, but upon disassembly, they found out that he got scammed by Hayes. No porting was done whatsoever.

And they didn't correctly hook up the oil nozzles to the rear rotor: catastrophic engine failure withing only a few thousand miles.

I don't know how many similar stories like this I've heard now...it's amazing they're still in business.

Sorry, I was guessing you're from the Portland area. Pineapple Racing doesn't do motor installs, but he does a hell of a job building them. CJ

Me and a friend went to a SCCA Road Ralley this Friday. Not even 20 minutes out he blew his motor.

Thumbs down

I heard way too many terrible stories about Hayes, I'm so happy that I never did any business with them. They will also give you bullshit excuses to not cover the warranty on the engine. If you want it done right the first time and don't want to worry about your engine try sending out your engine to KD Rotary, Pettit Racing, or RX-7.com.
