It's the idle air control valve, probably unplugged because the last owner was using manual idle control.

Question Search??

Any reason why the OP cannot search? Rather than post a what is this?

I believe the actual name is Idle Speed Contor (ISC) and is located on F-83 of the Factory Service Manual (hint, hint, hint)

It is on the upper intake manifold (technically called the surge tank). It is not that hard to search. With an FSM, it would take a few minutes to look at the upper intake manifold (surge tank) to see what it is. A simple search with upper intake manifold turned up this thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ntake+manifold

A lot of owners would rather have someone "spoon feed" them info vice them taking a little time to search on their own.

This car is 20 years old and 99.9% of the info has been covered before. It just takes a little bit of "wanting to help yourself" before asking others.

Off my soapbox now...

Wow man. Really? I've been here over 10 years. This is my third rotary. I don't appreciate your assumption that I need "spoon feeding".

Its a bit hard to search for something I don't know what its called. It took me forever just to find a useful pic of the back of the manifold. I even searched onlinemazdaparts for a schematic with no luck.
