I got mine from dealer said 82C, however people refer to low temp tstats as being 180F. which is basically 82C.

Thanks

The original stock thermostat is 210 F. The 180 F is also considered OEM, so there are 2 OEM stats.

210F? that is very high, fans are already on by that point. Most likely it is fully open at that temp, but what is the rating?

There's two OEM thermostats? I thought the thermostat begins to open at 180 and fully open at 210. The only other thing that's at 210 is the thermoswitch, and that activates the fans.

The stock thermostat starts to open at 180F and is fully opened at 203F according to the work shop manual. If you install a water temp guage at the thermostat housing you will see fans turn on at 230F, not 221F,210F or lower even if you turn youre lights on.

the fans actually switch on at 226degrees according to the manual, that's full on for both fans. The switching relay retards the second fan below that temperature under no additional load(ie; parking lights, or vent fan on 3) The fans will go full blast at about 210 with full electrical load(ie lights on, vent fans on 4) and the fans will default full blast with the A/C switch actuated. As for the thermostat-180 is stock, but it's designed to come open within 10 degrees of it's 82 degree designation(usually higher temp).

Fans turn on at low speed from 221F-226F according to the workshop manual, than at 226F the thermoswitch turns on fans at medium speed and high only comes on if A/C is activated. Now if you turn on parking lights or fan speed to 3 fans turn on sooner at a slightly lower temp at low speed not faster to med or high. But if you install a temp guage and put the sender at the thermostat housing you will see 230F for low speed fans and maybe 226F+ with park lights on.Remember the stock temp sender is at the hottest part of the motor there temps might be 10F more than at thermo housing. That cant be good for reliability.

my problem is that stock thermo is opening when stock sensor says about 74C, it never gets past 80C which is when the PFC takes off the fuel enrichement. So in effect, my car is tool cool, I want to run about 10C higher. I am replacing the stock thermosensor, we will see if that corrects it.

why don't you just put a piece of cardboard in front of part of the radiator. That's what I have to do when the temp gets below 70 degrees f outside. I don't have a thermostat at all and have ducting around my FMIC to the radiator, so I have a similar problem with the car being too cold most of the time, except I have the pettit unlimited ecu which takes out all of the timing, so it's a dog if the water temp isn't about 82C or higher. Just a suggestion, but remember not to put the cardboard in front of the whole radiator just about 1/2 of it. That will allow you to still turn the fans on and off if you need to!
