What should I expect to pay?

Hey everyone, this probably isnt the best way to start this post, but i posted a few weeks ago about my wrecked FD, and I found an FD in the midwest (93 red R1, manual, 73,000 miles) that has been pretty heavily modified (full exhaust, PFC, non-seq, short throw, fluidyne, fuel pump, injectors, etc) and it has been tracked. It has a rollbar installed which will be removed, and the wheel well will need to be patched. It has a mazda reman with 20,000 miles on it, turbos also have the same amount of miles, exterior has a few small dings and very small scratches, interior is 9/10. Due to the fact that the mazda reman has 20,000 on it, it is the flip of a coin whether or not something will have to be taken care of in that department within the next 5,000 miles. I was wondering what i could expect to pay for this FD.

If the compression on the reman is still very good, then it was probably one of the 'good ones' and there is little to worry about.

Price, well, I would expect anywhere from 15-20k depending on mods, seller motivation, and condition.

Given the miles on the car and the fact that the engine effectively has a lot more than 20k on it because it has been tracked, I would pay around $12k.

I recently paid $16.4k for a minty stock 1993 R1 with 44k miles, so you should work well down from there when working out a price.

Modifications are nice but they typically add nothing to the used price of a car so I would not pay for them.

That track business is scarry. How does it look as far as maintenance? 20,000 miles on a tracked reman engine is asking for trouble. The rest of the car sounds ok, depending on your inspection. I wouldn't offer more than $12,000, if at all. If you are looking for a car to hang on to for a long time and keep in good shape, meaning no racing, I'd opt for a 94 that still has the original engine with only about 40-50,000 miles. If the compression turns out good, I'd say the car is worth about $16-17,000. They are out there, but you must have patience.
