What should I do

My turbo is leaking oil and I am going to replace the turbo soon so I need a cheap and easy way to get my rx7 back on the road when the turbos go out. I have been thinking about the bnr stage 2s. Could anyone tell me what they think of the bnr stage 2s and and what kind of power they put out at the wheels.

I was considering the BNR stage 2's for a while. But Mahjik and others said they've had bad experiences with them. Smoking is not uncommon, and they haven't really been around enough to have any data on reliability or lifespan. I went with stock rebuilds for now.

The general consensus is that you get what you pay for, and as far as upgraded twins go, BNR's are cheaper, (compared to M2, for example). Thats part of what makes them so tempting. But I decided to just wait till something better comes along, perhaps a little cheaper.

Lightbulb

I just wanted to say that Brian (BNR) has apparently fixed the oil/smoke problems with his turbo sets. A friend local to me is awaiting he turbos returned and hopefully his smoke problem should be resolved.

All in all, at this point, I would still go for a BNR staged rebuild. M2's would be nice, but they are expensive compared to a BNR rebuild. However, if you have the money, that should be your first choice. No one has yet to see any dyno's or hear any first hand testimonials of Bi-State upgraded turbos other than the people that work there (so of course they are going to recommend them).

Thumbs up

I love my BNRs. Run in parallel with the dynamic seals there is minimal lag (almost like stock seq twins) and it pulls like a single turbo once on boost. Between myself and two buddies (customers of ours) we don't smoke at all.

They'll be hitting the dyno here shortly so we shall see what they do.

I will say that the car feels *much* faster now then when I laid down 368 on the stockers.....

How much boost do you want to run? If you want to run them in their efficiency range at around 17 psi, you'll need to slap 850s in the primaries or get 1600 secondaries. I would recommend the SupraTT pump over the little walbro. Power FC will work just peachy

Oh, and btw.....if you plan on only running like 12 or 13 psi with them, you definitely won't be getting your money's worth. There is a *huge* diff between 12 and 17 psi on these suckers.

You can Pm me if you want with an answer if you want. My goal is to hit 400 rwhp on a dyno. Any more would be great.
