what shop would you choose??

I have a a 93 FD and i need the engine gone through and the two places that i am thinking of taking it is either PF supercars or RX7.com?? Does anyone have any imput on either shop?? I have heard great things on here about rx7.com but the prevous owner had some work done at PF and had good things to say. I would like to have around 325-350 horsepower to the wheels.

Thank you in advance

You can't go wrong with either shop, PFS is closer to you.

Why not look into Pettit? They have a great reputation and are in Florida.

Oh, I see how it is now.

The next time you show up with one of your infamous junk cores with 3 useable parts inside, I'm gonna tell you to "deal with Crispeed".

both shops are close enough for me. I am lookin for a very good shop and from what i have heard on this forum there are still some mixed feelings about pettit?? I want to be able to just get in and drive the car and not worry about anything. I am also very **** about the way the installation goes as far as looks i dont want things cobbed to gether! Not that pettit would do that but that thread on that 3 rotor build on here (you know the one) has made me kinda shy away from there.

How far are you from Rotary Resurrection? Kevin has great feedback on the forum, and he's probably about half the price of Pettit.

I would say bring the car to us, but NJ is a bit of a hike for you

The 3 rotor build had more to do with other shops than Pettit...

If traveling isnt an issue take it to RotaryResurrection.com. He doesnt have a huge shop but the quality is definately there with the best. Full powdercoating services and he can do any job you want done. The price will be half the price of other shops, turnaround time will be 1/4th that of other big shops. Hes built 40-50 engines for me over the years with no issues.

Nothing against other shops as the ones you mentioned are great and proven. Im just telling you there are other choices with the same quality minus the high overhead of running a big shop.

I figured the OP was like most and not wanting to ship their car across country to have it worked on.

Give us a call, we have cars shipped in from all over the country. Just talk to Elaine, she will help with getting you a shipping quote from multiple auto transport companies.

Really, we're fortunate in the community to have so many good options. If you're looking to ship anywhere in the country, you can also look into Rotary Performance/RX7.com in Dallas texas and Gotham Racing out in Fort Worth texas

Fountain,

Every shop can pick apart another shops work. It's just part of the business. I would recommend picking a shop close to you. This way, if there are issues, you can easily go back to the shop to have them fixed. I will say that Pettit and PFS, regardless of the bad things which may have been said about them, have probably built more 3-rotor setups than any other shop around. In my area, we have about 4-5 Pettit built 13B-REW's which have been beat on and are still going strong for years.

Drive to the shops close to you. Check them out and talk to them. Get estimates. Don't rely just on forum talk, especially since there are several options in your immediate area.

If our loving forum owners and 'vendor moderators" continue to have their way, that may not be so in the future. All attempts are being made to restrain and drive away many long time parts and service suppliers, all on the basis of added forum revenue and "advertising". Soon it will not be worthwhile for some of the smaller guys like me to fool with this business, it's not as if rotary parts were ever a cash cow to begin with. Just as important as engine building are parts suppliers, and without them, it will be more difficult and more expensive to maintain these cars.

Last week I posted an oil pan level sensor for sale for 20 bucks and the thread was deleted within 30 minutes because they want me to pay $200-800 PER MONTH to be a part of this forum. Now that I don't part out whole cars, I doubt that I will sell $800 in parts PER YEAR on this forum, so obviously that option is out the window. If I did sell only parts, what do you suppose I would do? I would probably close down and move on. This action serves no purpose except to hurt the community in the long run.

Sure, this won't affect the big shops who don't bother to maintain a forum presence anyway. IF they're not here to begin with, they can't be penalized for not paying to stay here. And even if they wanted to be, they have the money to pay regardless.

Call me wierd, but if I did not know how to build engines and needed one done, I would be more apt to support those guys who build engines AND maintain a forum presence helping people with tech issues for free as well. Not the bigger shops who charge double and most of the profit goes toward their big building, or their race team, and won't give you the time of day until you are standing at their doorway.
