What a score!!

My old turbos are starting to get pretty tired, latley they'e been blowin a bit of oil and the endplay is getting worse so I'm thinking either rebuild or new.

I've been scopeing the local trade sites and yesterday I scored big time. This dude was selling a set of series 7 twins on behalf of a freind in an 3 day auction with $1 reserve, he had advertised them as S7 TT which obviously attracted no interest as I ended up winning the auction for $25 ( US$12).
I gave the guy a ring and went round to take a look, they are mint as S7 twins complete with manfold, Y-pipe etc with only 55K on them.
I'm gonna do a complete non - seq on them, now comes the fun part of removing the old ones.

$12. How did the seller let it go for that. In person even! Does he have any other parts for sale.

i hope you gave him a little extra, i'm sure you know how it feels to get hosed on a deal and don't give me the crap line that it was his fault for putting no reserve.

it's your own choice though but what comes around goes around.

Nope:

S6 = '93-'95
S7 = '96-'98
S8 = '99+

Good find though!

well to be honest I was a little sus on the whole thing, but considering it was only $25 and he was local I though it low risk . he was a young guy and when i saw the turbos I thought holy **** its all true, i asked him if he was going single and he said "yeah, I'm putting a S4 turbo on it" thats right about where I thought " ????!!!!!!!!"
I did offer him a little advice and told him he may have some overboost issues with the S4 wastegate blah blah,cmon we all know its a ludicrouse idea but I didnt want to mention anything about the fact he was going to lose HP otherwise he'd probably change his mind
about the twins.
BTW, he had a sliver RS 96

just some pics of my $30 S7 twins.
I've never had twins off before, Damn they're a lot heavier than I thought.
Can anyone see any ( visual) problems with these? They guy told me he had them checked out and they were in almost mint condition.
Is there anything I can check myself before bolting them up?
