What to replace during 1300 sec inj install?
I've never pulled the injectors before so what should i replace while I'm in there? I know the injector O-Rings need to be replaced (quantity, mazda part #'s?), and I've heard about some sort of cap. What about the FPD? Should I pull the whole rail? I think I'll send out the primaries while I'm in there and have them cleaned/balanced/flow tested. Any hints, tips, or tricks? TIA.

actually, removing the secondaries is much easier than the primary so think about it before saying you want to remove the primary.
to remove the secondary, you need ot remove the UIM and the ACV, that's it.
as far as the primary, you need to remove the rat's nest and the coils.
so the two jobs are pretty different.

My $.02. If your just doing secondaries pull the manifold and the rail will be right there being held by 2 bolts. Remove them and pull the rail up. you will have plenty of access to the injectors... I used channel locks to remove the screws (grip twist) and also to remove the injectors (same deal very gently) then you should be able to reach everything you need to touch. fix it and check your vacuum hoses for ones that need fixing. that should be it. if your going to go for the primaries... i say do a hose job while your at it and fix your grounding connections.
*side note* the rc injectors I had (1300cc) were responsible for 3 lost engines --- in one year... keep that in mind.
Good luck and pm if you have q's I just did a hose job.

Thanks for the advice. I've already done the hose job, and now am running a very simplified sequential system. I think I have 3 solenoids left on the rack and the ACV has been removed.
Can you elaborate a little more on why the 1300's from RC were responsible for killing 3 of your engines? I've heard a lot of people speculate that boring them out reduces their reliablilty, but never heard of anyone having concrete evidence that one failed.

1300s and blown engines?
This is the first I have heard anyone claiming engine problems resulting from 1300 injectors. We need a more detailed explanation and input from others who have installed 1300s with their experiences.
