What PSI rating needed on fuel hoses?

During my engine rebuild, I replaced the fuel lines on the injector rails (not the bango fitting ones) and I realized last night I put 50 psi rated hoses on. Is this sufficient? The last thing I really want to do right now is to take all the stuff back off, as I am damned near done with the rebuild, but the VERY last thing I want is to blow one of those lines. I have the extreme pressure fuel line, I bought 18" of it yesterday ($9.00!).

Just go to advance auto or something similar and ask for fuel injection hose should be 70 psi I think.

Yeah, I have the really high pressure hose purchased, but I don't want to tear all that **** back apart if the 50 psi rated hose is fine. This 50 psi hose IS rated for fuel injection, but they DID have an even higher pressure rated hose that actually looks like what I took off.

**** it....I know this is going to drive me nuts....sigh. I guess I'll just take the rat's nest back off so I can get to those lines......

You will hit 50 psi of fuel pressure at approximately 10 psi, so NO, the fuel lines you installed are not adequate IMO.

Thanks for the info!

I looked into fuel injection hose a couple of months ago. Was able to do some test had some 7.9mm fuel line hose and some 7.9mm hose found at autozone for a reasonable price. went to the internet to look for 7mm injector hose but could not find an inexpensive source. the hose from autozone I think was rated for over 250F which is pretty good, off hand I don't know the ASTM number.

Ran them for a couple of months maybe a year, cut the lines in half, the non injector fuel line showed noticeable deterioration, the injector line looked good, its made of two different materials.

Bought a stock hose kit from Ray and replaced the fitted line between the rails, it had maybe 80-100K on it. though the line was hard outside it looked good enough on the inside.

for future I'm buying the 7.9mm injector hose at autozone unless I find it in a 7mm. I'm also planning to use it for coolant lines, unless someone has evidence not to.

Braided line would be the best way to go. But rubber line will work fine.

Just a side question, What would happen if a fuel line burst at full boost? Would the motor go lean, causing damage?

Would probably just die because it would not get any fuel. However, the fuel spraying onto the hot manifold would probably ignite giving a nasty engine fire, which could potentially destroy the car.

I just concerned because I just installed my fuel psi gauge. But the fitting is on the drivers side of the motor. I don't think it would pop off. But if it did......

Btw- what sould my max fuel psi be at 16psi boost with 1600cc secondaries?

16 psi above whatever your base fuel pressure is set at. If it's not, your fuel pump (or fuel pump wiring) is inadequate.
