What products do you guys want to see for the FD? Might just happen

My brother and I have started a business and now making performance parts. We're starting with FDs cause we both have them but now need ideas on what to build. So far we've been building GT35R kits that I'm sure you'll be hearing about shortly. Now we've hit a wall. The idea of twin GT28R's has crossed my mind but don't know how popular it would be. I was also thinking of a sheet metal air box. Let me know what's popular with you guys and I'll see what I can do. How about a 4" exhaust?

Ill take 2!

But seriously, maybe a V-mount frame (something that we can buy and put our own radiator and intercooler in, be hard cause all the different kinds of intercoolers tho....).

Possibly a kit for the reliability mods...AST/Samco radiator hoses/etc...all in one package.

Vented Aluminum hood?

Intake is a definite good idea, lots of people need/use those....4" Exhaust wouldnt be all that useful to man...probably only the hardcore people running 500+ horsepower.

Anyway, just a couple ideas, retarded though they may be...

how about some aluminum pressure and vacuum chambers? Id love to have something leak proof and crack proof.Plus it would look nice polished up as well.

V mount setups for say $1500 or $1600 wouldnt be that bad either.I mean all you need is maybe a blitz intercooler, moddify the piping and there you have it.Fab up some brackets and throw in a koyo radiator and bammm you have a good and very competetively priced unit.I would buy it thats for sure.

individual twin turbo kits that dont cost an arm and a leg would be great as well.
Or maybe being able to upgrade the stock twin turbos to sequential or nonsequential ball bearing cartriges. That would friggin rock.

Lemme know what you think of the ideas LT1-7.
Thanx

I'm sure a ton of people would be interested in the twin gt28 kit...but no one would actually buy it. The price would have to be 4k to make it worth your while...right?

Something I've been thinking about for a while now, is a waterpump setup a friend has on his 67 Camaro. Sort of a poor man's electric water pump. He has an electric motor driving a belt, attatched only to the water pump. I'd like to see if something similar could be done for the FD, as it would be very helpful for cooling. No high RPM cavitation, and you could have it run for a minute or two after shut down, to further cool the engine/turbo(s).

Twin turbo kits are not going to sell well. Enough people bitch about the cost of 1 turbo... now you're going to sell 2? If you want to do it for fun, do it... but don't expect to sell many.

A suggested item would be a idler pulley setup so that you can run the main pulley + water pump + alternator + the new idler pulley and have good belt engagement on your water pump.

For an idea, check here https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/r85-installed-pics-346818/page4/ See post number 104 for two pictures of something similar to what I was thinking about.

I thought the idea of the reliability mods kit was a good idea.
V8 conversion parts (so we have a choice beside HINSON's)

I'll bet the fender liners would be a great seller.

How about a subrame for the different v8 swaps. I think there is a good demand out there for this but not many reputable shops. I researched this awhile ago so I may just be an idiot that is uninformed. If you could make a sleek light kit frame where the people who bought it could just buy the lights seperately that might work also. Remember to consider quality before price.

I hadn't thought of the assorted vacuum chambers being made in aluminum...sounds good just wonder how hard it would be.

Shouldnt be too hard. They may end up being a bit more boxy but besides that I think it would bea worthwhile investemnt.Especially for us guys that wanna stick with the sequential system.

Some pretty good ideas guys!!

I think we just might come out with a twin GT28R kit. As with our GT35R kits, price will be unbeatable with all high quality parts to do a complete install. Pricing for the twin turbo complete kits will be right around $3700.

A V-mount kit will be another one we'll think about. I actually have a good source for custom made intercoolers and radiators. I wouldn't know pricng until I do some more shopping but $1500- $1800 sounds about where I would price them

A 4" exhaust would be something I would love to produce but only if there were at least 5 guys willing to buy up front. Pricing for a 4" stainless w/ magnaflow muffler would be right around $500, for a catback. $700 for a full dp back.

^My thoughts exactly on the vacuum chambers, especially since I'll probably be replacing my lines soon. I just know I'm going to break some.

vacuum chambers would be something interesting but I would only be able to do them in stainless or mild steel. I'm still learning aluminum and can't promise show quality pieces. Anyone have a good picture of one?

I would think 4" exhaust would work from the turbo back just do to different manifolds just places different turbos in different spots. But i like the idea.

Actually, I can't think of a reason they couldn't be steel. Weight wouldn't be much of a factor and neither would corrosion. And maybe it'd be cheaper(?). Just put some paint or powder coat on and leave the nipples unpainted. Personally, durability is more important than appearance.

I just keep thinking that, with all the other mods available for the FD, someone would have been making these if there was $$ in it.

what's your price going to be on the gt35r kit? i'm about to head in that direction and will consider waiting on the conversion if your kit is a great deal.
