What is a 'Pill'
Hi,
After realising some time ago that I have got a very poor mans non sequential conversion, I decided to bite the bullet and get in there are remove what is now not being used. Seemed the best thing to do as various things have been welded shut or open so wont be going back anytime soon!
I have chased and stripped out all the vac lines that are not being used.
Drives absolutely fine I am getting about 0.5 bar boost in every gear starting at 3k ish right up to the red line.
My question is, after reading various posts I should be getting a bit more boost than that, 0.7 bar has been mentioned a few times. I have read about 'pills' that should be certain vac line. Can anyone point in the direction on where they should be and what they are, a pic would be great if anyone has one as I have not got a clue??

They are connected to the wastegate inside the vac lines. If you take the lines off they should have a metal thing inside them thats the pill. If you dont have one there pretty cheap I had to buy them for mine from malloy mazda.

Stock boost FTW!

If the solenoids that were on the front of the uim (the two made together) are not hooked up, than you may be running on just wastegate psi.
Approx 6 psi if I remember right. The combination of the wastegate solenoid and the pill in the wastegate line help it reach 10 psi.
If you have all that eliminated, then you'd want to either get a MBC or EBC to raise the boost.

Sooo,
I checked and the pills are in place in the waste gate control and turbo precontrol actuator hoses.
After a bit of faffing I was looking again at the two solenoids for these actuators in front of the UIM. It has always bothered me that I only seemed to have the turbo precontrol one with pipes on when for the non sequential conversion you should be only using the waste gate control solenoid. When you looked at the plugs it does look like the plugs have been crossed over, so I assumed that one of the solenoids was no good so the other was being used in its place.
Swapping the plugs over made no difference, it still only seemed to get 0.4-0.5 boost. So that was that theory out the window!
But then I swapped the plugs back and also put the two vac hoses on to the waste gate solenoid instead, and wow now goes like stink!! Seem to be getting around the 0.7 bar mark, maybe slightly more.
My new question is, it seems to boost much better, it fly's up to the 0.7 mark but then drops off a bit, back to the 0.5 mark. Is this correct or have I got another problem now.
If anyone has done the conversion, I would appreciate any advice you may have.
