what is this (pic)

is this normal? on the left I have a plastic thing and on the right there's none.

if you don't have an R model then yes. The uncoverd side has an oilcooler. the covered one does not.

ok, that's where the dual oil cooler is thanks. oh, does removing the cover do anything? i like symmetry

I have a touring but the Mazda dealer installed stock dual oil coolers when my front was wrecked.

i just push mine thru. it allow for more air into the intake system.

Garfinkle removes them for his customers .somewill argue it makes more air go to the radiator, some will just argue. there are sq headed bolts to loosen and the part will slide out

The story I heard is that Garfinkle is a pretty good rotary mechanic and machinist located just outside of Nashville, TN. Aparently he is not very computer savy so this duboisr makes all of his posts for him.
