did not see your reply apneablue and ryanberg...referring to the idiots above you
Ok police supervision, school for speed.. You gotta be kidding me how old are you 16-17 maybe.

Sorry but no way in hell would any police agency allow a car to hit 180 on any public highway.

Now for your information i've hit 160 in my FD and that was fast enough the adrenalin from the fear of being cought is what keeps me from doing it again. If i was in Germany on the autobahn It wouldn't phase me one bit if you go to www.blowdog.com and look at his nurburgin vid they hit 200+ in his skyline.

as far as ill effects there is none. as long as it doesn't crash. and wasn't left at redline to long .

Ok I will retract my statement but your words made it sound like he did it by him self with cops letting just him.

Well I suggest having a quilified mechanic/tuner look the car over make sure it wasn't abused and decide from there.

Check the wheel bearings and diff bearings. At those speeds you will generate enough heat to cook the grease out of them and they will score. Look for blue-ing of the races and slop in the cages. I would definitely change the fluidin the trans and diff. If you do plan to run at excessive speeds for extended periods of time you'll need a trans and diff cooler. Ford mustang Type R has a very nice set up.

I got a ride-along from my instructor, John Eppley, at WGI a while back. Track-only, single-T, killer-bee RX7, and John is FAST... saw about 170 down the straight. Not much less than that through the uphill esses.

Thats whistling.

For PROLONGED runs at that speed? better check everything. anything that carries fluid better be bullet-proof, cuz if it breaks and sprays on your tires, you're toast. Check all the bushings and pick-up points, something jiggles, you're toast. Make sure everything in the driveline is fresh, something locks up, you're toast. Make sure the aerodynamics are for-real, wind-tunnel tested stuff, not poser fiberglass, cuz if something causes too much lift, or uneven lift, you're toast. Make sure the brakes are fresh, up to the task, and perfectly balanced, or you're toast unless you've got several miles to slow down. Usually when mags dothes esorts of tests, they x-ray (or similar) the tires for hidden manufacturing flaws that cxould cause blow-outs, and monitor them during thre run, cuz if they do... well, you know.

The local Ferrari club where I'm from gets assistance from the State Police. They used to go out on I-12 in the early morning hours when the sun first comes up. Now we have a road course about an hour outside of New Orleans. When the Ferrari club had a big meet last year downtown they had a State Police escort to the track with speeds well over 100mph.

People with lots of money and influence can get away with some pretty unbelievable things to the average person. I'm not one of these people but I happen to know some of them.

Most every State Trooper I've met down here is a car nut and I'm more than happy to bring them for a ride at their request.

My car, but you'd have to fight me for it...

Seriously, I'm the only one who has one. It took 5 months (much of which was due to customs), a trip halfway around the earth, and several hundred dollars to have it done.

...

I did it in a T66 Supra it didn't take that long to redline 6th gear either the speedo went pass 180 I don't know how accurate the speedo is. I also have a friend that hit 170 in a bpu++ Rx7 but the freeway wasn't long enough for him to reach 180. Just make sure the car is in top shape before you do this inspect rearend, driveshaft, wheels, tires, common stuff. It was such a rush going that fast but I wouldn't try to stay at 180 for long just hit 180 and let off lol.
