What to know for midpipe installation?

I have a 3 1/2 inch thick SS pipe that I want to have welded to my downpipe and to the catback.
Is there a sensor on the cat that I have to keep and put in the midpipe?
Does anyone have any instrusctions or advise for this?
I have the welder and the pipe that is all that I know so far.
any help would be great

Is your catback 3 1/2? I would NOT suggest welding it but getting a 3" that bolts on. There are hoses that go to the cat for the smog pump, just leave those hanging.

I didn't buy this it's just a pipe and I know someone that can weld it. Why shouldn't I weld it? thanks for the info on the smog hoses.

Are you guys talking about that metal wire kinda thing that used to connect to the main cat. I always get people telling me somethings hanging from below your car. What the hell is that thing anyways. I looked in the shop manual and could not really tell what it was.

Well if you have a 3"dp, 3 1/2" mp, and 3" cb, it's not going to line up good and will have more backpressure going into the cb.

If you weld everything, you will have to take it off in one-piece or cut it.

Yes, it's for the smog pump. You can take it off closer to the engine so it won't hang down so much and be noticable.
