What kind of trans fluid?

I know its a weird question, but I have a manual, I removed the trans last week and some automatic transmission fell out of it. I thought there was only supposed to be grease in there. Is anyone using ATF in their manual out there? And are you using Ford or GM brand. As far as I know those are the 2 major ones used. I would like to put the same stuff back in it. Thanks for the help

Drain all fluid from your tranny. If it is a manual transmission, I recommend Red Line MTL to replace whatever was in there.

I'm using Neo aswell. I noticed a big difference after I put that stuff in. I have yet to try Redline though, might give that a try next time around.

The manual gear box uses fluid (oil) rather than grease.

Definitely use synthetic. Read the manual to get the weight and GL spec you need for it. Many folks have used Neo, Mobil 1, Redline (MT90, 75W90, or MTL), Royal Purple, etc. without problems.

Use neo for your diff. and Redline MTL for your tranny.
