This is the second Stant Lev-R-Vent cap I've had go bad, so I'm looking for alternatives.

Thanks!

You should be able to cross-reference that (in most auto-parts stores) to the same cap w/o the lever. The basic cap is fine - it's just the lever arrangement that throws the components off center when you use it, and it doesn't seal properly aftrwards. I had the same problem with mine - I just made it so the lever doesn't need to be used at removal (cut off the lever tang), made sure everything lined up, and it's been fine since.

What pressure cap should I use on the AST? The Stant Lev-R-Vent cap that's currently on the car is 16psi. Also does anybody have a part # for a non-lever cap? I was another thread that mentioned a Stant 11230. Can someone confirm that it works?

Thanks!

There's lots of different caps and psi that will work fine. 13 psi is stock pressure. 16 psi is what i run. All it does is take a higher temp before it releases the coolant. This could put more strain on coolant pipes and such, but should be fine if they are in good order, or if you don't let your car get too hot, which is obviously ideal.

Oh yeah i'm just running a cap from autozone, no idea what brand.

Check out this thread for all the issues I had with the Stant cap:

FWIW: Now, I use a 16-lb cap from O-Reilly Auto Parts. Again, make sure the spring-loaded valve is nice and tight.

Check out the pics of the thread above to see the pn# for the Stant 16-lb. cap.
