Jeez... I see an average of 220-250 miles per tank, mostly back road driving with stops for villages every 3-4 miles. I've only once run my tank till it was *completely* empty (shuddering in turns), unfortunately I wasn't planning on that, so my trip odometer wasn't set up to record the distance for accurate calculation.

How do you guys figure your mpg if not for measuring miles from top off, till completely empty??

I typically average between 15 and 17, depending on how I drive.

The highest I ever got was 23, and that was mostly highway driving.

You don't have to go completely empty lol.

As long as you start FULL and return to FULL, you divide your miles against the gallons of gas used.

You can drive a half-tank and then fill back to FULL (to find out how many gallons you used) and check that against your tripometer (that you zero'd out at full...)

I just got 20 mpg on my last tank (Sunoco 94) with mixed city and highway driving, with several full-throttle bursts mixed in.
I don't actually drive 55 mph, I was just saying that was the speed limit. I usually drive 65-70 and pass everyone I catch, usually without downshifting unless there is a long line of cars. I actually think these cars get better mileage at 65-70 than 55 because that is about the RPM the rotory likes to cruise at. I usually average 24 but on this job it is usually 22-23, depending on how many cars I pass.
