What kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting?
 

The worst I have ever got was 21mpg and the best is 27; I usually average about 24 with a moderately light foot. I was wondering what other people were getting with certain mods, condition, ect. I have an intake, downpipe (the rest of the exhaust is stock), turbo to intercooler pipe, larger radiater (probably not relevant), and about 30,000 mi. on rebuilt motor + turbos (motor is not ported).

Liar.

I got 17mpg at best and averaged 16mpg even if I tried staying out of boost for a whole tank.

On a healthy, near stock FD. (Midpipe, Exhaust only).

Just to clear things up, I am not lying. Especially to people that have the same car that I do, that would be pointless.

There have been a lot more people reporting economy in that range lately, I don't know that I'd be so brash as to call him a liar, maybe you need to just keep your foot out of the floor more often? :tonque:.

I honestly haven't even driven my car enough at this point to give an reasonable estimate, after I get done with the single swap and a safe tune I don't expect it to be incredibly awesome though :lol:.

LOL relax. I was really kinda "half serious" about the liar comment simply because it's unheard of.

I don't have a heavy foot at all. And Like I said, I took it easy (no boost) for a tank or two to see what I'd get...and it went to 17mpg at best. From what I knew, I had a healthy motor, intake/exhaust system, fuel delivery system at the time and all...

city driving or highway?

I made 16 liters/100km on the last tank, half highway half city. (no idea how many MPG that is, it's about time americans use metric system lol :P)

actually I think it's about 15mpg

I haven't checked lately and my car is definitely a weekend warrior but I'm guessing I get half of your range.

I drive about half back roads and half 55 mph straight road (rt.2 in WV) I work in Gallipolis, OH, about 55 miles one way commute.

When mine ran, it was kind of a messed up engine with some irons ported and some not. PFC, exhaust, intakes, downpipe, intercooler. I got typically 18 to19 when i drove it normal (some full throttle some crusing). Best i got on one tank driving slower than grandpa was 23mpg. Not too great. I'll be curious to see what i get out of my build i'm working on now.

its not unheard of. you can be tuned for much better fuel ecomony

i get about 10 mpg...

I just made a trip of about 250 miles St Louis to Springfield Mo and at 75 mph in cruise i got 19.871 mpg. The car dynoed 494.1 in St Louis and im running 14.5 to 15.1 afr at 75 mph.

The exhaust looked so clean when i got home, it didnt look like a rotary!

I have no idea what mileage in town is im sure not very good.:rolleyes:

i dunno what im getting now, engine is being street ported, but when my car was relatively stock, intake and downpipe, i got 25 mpg on the highway, made the trip to Buffalo from CT on one tank of gas. suprised the hell out of me thats for sure. typically i think i get around 15 around town. and if put my foot to the floor im looking at single digits xD

Last time I checked I got 12mpg,, and thats on a stock engine, and just exahust and intake..... I think the PFC might have something to do with it.... :dunno:

I would be so happy if I got around 21 MPG! I did have a question,since this is a gas mileage thread, my buddy has a programmer on his Jetta that allows him to have an economic, performance,and normal driving setting. On eco. setting he gets well in the upper 20's (28-even 30MPG), of course with the perf. his turbos boost goes up and he still gets around 25-26 MPG. He's running around 325 horsepower at 19psi, and still gets that good of mileage! Is there something like this for the FD's, or is does it sound more like a tune? Thanks.:dunno:

Gas mileage varies so much with these cars, especially when you start changing the tune.

In my case, I got 28 mpg highway, high teens in the city, and single digits during 'spirited driving'. As you can see, the style of driving DRASTICALLY changes the gas mileage.

I think the majority of FD's get low-mid 20's mpg on the highway. The rest just depends on how heavy your right foot is. :)

last time i checked going to NC i got 17mpg... 2/3 highway and 1/3 around city/town with a couple of boost runs :)

Who other than you drives 55 !?!?
 

Well, that sort of explains your great mileage. I don't know anyone other than you that actually drives at 55mph for that distance. The only time I drive 55 is when traffic is holding me up, or the speed limit is 45 or less. I generally drive speed limit +10mph with my Valentine-1 turned on.

I just got 20 mpg on my last tank (Sunoco 94) with mixed city and highway driving, with several full-throttle bursts mixed in.

I put some Slick50, STP and ZMAX with ethanol in my tank during a vortex generator installation. Now I think my car is actually making gas. :)

I get great gas milage. lol I never bother calculating so it never bothers me. That said i have put $500+ into the tank in a 7 day period before. The car burns cleaner then my neighbors hybrid so i dont care what the mileage is more what my bank account says about how much gas i can get

Fuel milage in a rotary is not even remotely understandable... I baby the car around for a whole half tank (I never let the tank get below half) and I get 15mpg. I drive the car like most people do not flooring it and not babying it and I get 16mpg. I use the car for a weekend of fun with WOT runs and spirited passing and I get 18mpg. So I decided not to give a damn how I drive and I get 16-17mpg. I use a lot of compression braking/cruising in 5th gear which requires 0% injector duty which has helped a little.

The car has a single turbo, straight exhaust, PowerFC tuned by Rotary Performance (probably has a lot to do with milage), 3mm apex seals, and a lot more shit.

On my last weekend roadtrip, I got about 350 miles on 16.2 gallons...a little over 21 mpg. The drive included some 40-70 runs to check my new setup, redlined 3rd a couple of times to pass slower traffic, and a little bit of stop and go.

I think I could have gotten my gas mileage into the mid-twenties if I tried.

My FD has a just broken-in rebuilt (mild streetport, 3mm), Pettit ECU, DP, CB, 99 twins (MBC set to about 8 psi), a Fighters Garage intake...oh and a ACT clutch with Streetlite flywheel if that matters.

19.3 mpg on my last tank if you believe the odo, i think my tires are sized up a little so it might actually be a little better than i think. Typically drive about 55 miles per day average 60-80mph. I changed some really really beat up plugs over the weekend so i'm hoping the next tank shows some improvement. Full exhaust, intake, IC, PowerFC.

i wish i got 28 on the highway... driving an avg of 85 i get about 21 mpg or a little under 400 miles on 19 gallons.
