I really like the look and feel of the alcantara. I guess the biggest attraction of the "base" seats for me is that they break up the otherwise monochromatic interior. If/when I ever have to have my R1 seats re-done, I've thought about varying the color of the alcantara inserts from the bolsters... maybe a charcoal. And since my car is VR in color, doing some red-stitching on the big outside seam.

alcantara (pseudo-suede) was chosen for the sports versions (as opposed to luxury and base-spec), due to its 'holding' properties.

for JDM, I know of at least three variations in the pattern used for the base-spec cloth seats.
