what idle is normal?

hello everyone. im just wondering what normal idle is supposed to be. i used to have my car idle at around 800-900, but now that ive put on a cone intake and a catback, it seems to be idle at 1200-1300. is this normal or should i have this ckecked? thank you

If you look underneath your hood, there should be a big white sticker that says, "VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION" and it'll have your idle information which should be 720 RPMs in neutral. 800-900 is within relative range, however, and if you're now getting 1200-1300 after installing an intake and cat-back exhaust, it sounds like you have a vacuum leak.

"normal" idle on our cars after mods is sometimes hard to achieve. My idle runs in the 900s with my mods, was never at 750 when stock.

IGNITION TIMING

1993 Mazda RX7 2RTR-1308cc 80
Vehicle Level Powertrain Management Fuel Delivery and Air Induction Idle Speed Adjustments

Adjustments
Notes

NOTE: Because idle speed is ECU controlled through the idle speed control (ISC) valve, checking and adjustment is not normally required. If rough idling occurs, adjust with this procedure.

PREPARATION

Tach Connection

Warm engine to operating temperature.
Run engine at idle. Place gear selector in "P" (A/T) or neutral (M/T). Set steering wheel straight ahead, turn off all electrical loads, and wait for electric cooling fan to stop.
Connect tachometer to diagnosis connector terminal EG-.
ADJUSTMENT

Throttle Adjusting Screw

Connect SST's (System Selector 49 B019 9A0 and Self Diagnosis Checker 49 H018 9A1) to diagnosis connector. Set switch "A" to position "1" and Test Switch to "SELF TEST."
NOTE: If SST is not used, install jumper wire between TEN and GND terminals of diagnosis connector.

Verify idle speed:
Idle Speed: 700 - 750 rpm

If not within specification, adjust with air adjusting screw (AAS).
If not within specification when AAS is fully closed, loosen locknut and turn throttle adjusting screw (TAS) to set idle.
Tighten locknut and put paint mark on nut and throttle body.
Disconnect SST or remove jumper wire.
