Unhappy What the hell is up with my engine? INjector Duty Problems, Running problems, Ideas?

Alright, so I am driving home.. all the sudden the car dies.....

So I start it back up and continue driving... a little bit later, it dies again. My fuel gauge is jacked up, so I figure I am out of gas. I get ot the gas station after being pulled off the freeway, and I put gas and injector cleaner in the tank. Well start it up, seems to work fine. Start driving home, car is sputtering while I am driving at some points, and then it dies again.

Well after tring to start it over and over again, I get it running, but the only to keep it running is by tapping the gas rapidly over and over again, otherwise it dies. I watch my injector duty on my FC and it will jump up to normal duty percentage then drop to zero percent, and then back to normal duty percent. Example - 39.9% - 0.0% - 41.2% - 0.0% - 53.5% - 55.8% - 0.0%

Now the engine is sputtering really rough, like it isn't getting fuel to keep running, sometimes it will idle normal, then after a minute or so, it will just die out again. The car has gas, map sensor is fine, and I can't figure out what the problem is.

I am thinking it may be the fuel filter, but I would like some insight.

Any ideas?

Sounds like fuel filter to me. Or bad fuel pump. However, i would be leaning towards fuel pump, since a fuel filter would start showing poor performace before it just died.

Fuel pump is pretty easy to get to, and I know it has a filter attached to it, should i just pull it and check and see if the fuel pump itself is clogged?

fuel

I had the same problem......I changed the fuel filter, fuel pump relay and the circuit relay that supplies power to the fuel pump relay.......one of the three solved it....
Im pretty sure it was the fuel pump relay because it operates differently for idling and power.

I can't see why a clogged fuel filter would cause the injector duty cycle to go to zero. The duty cycle is set by the PFC, right? So what is *it* seeing that would cause it to suddenly say "no more fuel!!!!"?
(or rather "don't add anymore fuel to the intake!!")

puzzling...

I swapped the fuel pump relay with one of the other relays in the box, still same problem. I also reset my PFC to see if this would fix it, same problem. I need to change the filter anyway, it is just such a pain in the *** to do. Getting to the fuel pump is simple enough though. Where is this circuit relay located?
