Manual Boost Controller - Do I need to cap the actuators?

Alright, so I did the home depot boost control deal. I am still spiking at 15+ PSI w/o a MP (still using stock cat). A friend told me that I need to put a cap on the two actuator lines so they are no longer controlled electronically. I know the 2 turbo actuators have 3 lines going to them, 2 that are next to each other, and one that is on it's own, he told me to cap both of the lines that are sitting by themselves with some rubber caps, and this could fix the problem.

I've looked around and I don't see this mentioned anywhere, any ideas?

BE CAREFUL! I know two people that did that home depot boost controller, they both spiked once and blew the motor. I'd recogmend spending some money with a electronic boost controller.

TOM93R1 has been using it for years without problems, I know the engine is still controlling it electronically, because at 16PSI it kicks it back and wont allow it to boost further, the engine is not knocking when it spikes, just throws it back... I want to eliminate the electronic control, my question is... in order to do this, do I need to place a cap on those actuator lines?

Don't replace the pre-control line with a valve. It's too hard to get it right. Just replace the wastegate line pill. And YES, you need to cap both the nipple on the actuator and the line coming from the rat's nest.

I have a prespool controller already =/ It's all good though. Anyway, this line coming from the rats nest... which one is it? lol

Since you don't think Rynberg gave you good advice, how about this:

Remove the prespool controller, and put the OEM line back in. This will most likely remove your spike, and make it easy to adjust your boost. I tried to get the two valves adjusted properly for over a month with no success. Removing the prespool was one of the best things I have ever done for my car.

I have been using both for years as dhahlen said. I was able to get a perfect 10-8-10 patten from a miserable 12-6-15 (or something close to that) in Colorado. The pre-control is a very nice thing to be able to adjust in an effort to eliminate spikes and level the boost pattern. Lately I have also been playing with the boost control on the PFC, and used that to change my pattern to 12-10-12 after my turbo replacement resulted in a 12-815 pattern.
You should try changing the settings in your PFC and see if you can eliminate the spike with that as well.

Forgot to add, I dont know why you would need to cap any actuator lines. I never did anything like that.
