What the hell is this and should it be blocked off?

What the hell is this? I was under inspecting everything and I don't recall what this is and should it be covered.

It's a connection for the split air pipe that supplies oxygen to the main catalytic converter. I'm guessing your car no longer has a cat. I don't know whether it has to be capped, but I've seen it capped.

Thats right... thanks. I do have a cat, but no air pump. I appreciate the response... it should be an empty cavity.

If your cat is original or is a hi-flow that was designed with a fitting for air but no air is supplied to it, it will plug up much sooner.

If you have any weird noises, see if they are coming from that hole. I have seen cases with no air pump that a port like that wasn't capped and made odd noises.

If not you are fine. May just want to put a block off plate on it just to be neat.

I have a custom car from Ari at RX7.com with no air inj. Possibly an RX8 cat? I dunno.

I didn't see that Dale!!! 1000 posts.. kind of crazy when I look back on how much this forum has helped me. It would be almost impossible for me to have this car where it is at without all your guys help!!!!

post a pic of a dark hole surrounded by a bunch of metal with no context and it gets like an immediate accurate response with related engine diagrams and everything.
