I been out of the FD for a little bit over 8 month now. I would come here once in a while to see how things are doing. Lately I been considering buying another FD so I started to get involve here more frequently. I have notice that there is a BUNCH of newbs here asking the same question over and over, things that has been ask millions of times already. All I'm saying is that if you want to make your BOV louder or why FDs have 2 "BOV", etc. Do a search. This forum has been aroung for a WHILE. If you think of it trust me some one already thought about it and askd about it here.

I'm not trying to start a argument here or offend anyone. I'm just trying to put out the changes on this forum (at least the 3rd gen section) that I have notice since I pause visiting it. I bet some of the persons that have been here for a while notice that too. I just needed to vent a little.

 

ahhh yes. I am becoming a grumpy old bastard here I have also come to notice that spring time also brings out the ridiculous "WTD" and "WTT" threads in the For Sale section. People who have no concept of FD worth, what their vehicle to trade is worth, and what the downfalls are to buying an $8-10k FD just because that's what they can afford or think they should pay.

 

I think the people funding the forum have a goal of expanding the number of members so the moderators are not allowed to be as harsh as they should be.

Frankly, 30% or so of new threads on this board should be deleted on sight.

There lots of annoying habits that go unpunished, like titling threads "WTF"? or "Please HELP!!!!!" or "question" or "RX-7?" (wtf?).

IMHO, if someone's first question is "what BOV should get" or "are rotaries reliable" then they will never contribute to the group and causing them to leave by pissing them off by deleting their post would be no loss.

I agree about the immediate delete on sight. Honestly, perhaps I don't understand the true workings of forum software, but would it not be beneficial to have these put into the moderating holding section for thread deletions, that way it would be purged and save space (I was a mod at a car forum, and in the mod section there was a holding area for all deleted threads, maybe each forum is different)??? Seriously, those threads do nothing but eat up resources.

 

Of course we were all newbs at one point as well. I'm getting to old for this $hit.

Yeah, I see your point. And yes, it is quite annoying, but damn these types of posts are getting old too lol.

Well yea everything is getting repeated, there is only SO much to talk about u know. I myself am noob and am F-ing grateful to have u guys that know-it-all. Without u guys...there would be a considerably less amout of running 7's out there. I mean, i admit, i did 're-post' a couple of times but only cuz some of the origional threads are almost 5 years old where the links, pics, vids and even info are outdated. I've been with my Fd for about 2 months now and am prob am 5X as knowledgable as i was when i 1st got it, and only due to this website. For all i know, this forum is all i really got in terms of any knowledge about rotary or rx7's. So for those of u experienced guys out there who took to time to answer my q's, thank you. For those of u grumpy old guys, im sorry, really, i am, but sometimes searching and looking through old *** threads just doesnt answer our q's. Although u r right SOMETIMES...questions like" the best bov" question has been repeated too many times. Just my 2 cents i guess

 

I've owned 3 RX-7's one of each gen...a little newer to the FD. I don't look to increase my post count, so as not to be considered a "newbie"...I could care less! I'd rather read something than look like a fool asking the same question over and over again. I search, search, and search....and 9 times out of 10 (more like 99 times out of 100), I find what I'm looking for. It's because these "kids" are friggin' lazy and aren't intelligent enough on how to do a search in the archives.

Most of them want to rice out their cars or put a LS1 or 20B into it anyway...and IMO, most of them probably don't even own an FD....

Why do you guys bitch about newbies asking questions? I'll bet you all asked the same annoying questions when you started off here. I've been watching this site for over a year, way before I got my FD. Nothing has gone down hill, if anything I think it is gotten bigger and better.

I don't mind answering some questions that has been post more than once, but when I just get done answering a question and I see the same one a few threads under it, it gets anoying.

 

a search does not bring up absolutely what one is looking for. Sometimes I get the phone book. I'll go through a few pages, but that's it before I post.

 

You may....but what I was saying is the majority of the new people do not, they just ask the same questions over and over without searching. Look at my post count...I hardly ever post and I am usually here daily. It's because I search before I post. If the search doesn't give me the answer I was looking for (again, it usually does), then I'll ask, or at least ask for clarification.

 

No - most newbies do not ask 'are rotaries reliable' and questions of that ilk. Only a small number do. Most clearly have searched and could not find what they wanted.

However, a small minority post questions that could be answered in seconds if they looked at the FAQ or even did a Google search. I worry about the level of the mind that would join a forum with 500k posts and ask about the type of exhaust they should get. This behaviour might have been excusable 5+ years ago when many people were new to the web, but it is not any more.

These people are lazy, rude, or stupid (pick as many as you like) and are unlikely to add value. If you look back at the really stupid newb questions you will find that in most cases the users asking the questions abandon the group after five or six posts.

 

I'll bet most of us didn't ask the dumb noob questions like "Which BOV is loudest" or "Are rotaries reliables". The older the FD gets, the more affordable it becomes to young kids with lower intelligence who want everything handed to them on a plate instead of taking time to research on their own.

The forum is degrading as the FD becomes more affordable. That's why all the old timers with knowledge are becoming scarce. They don't like dealing with lazy, rude kids.

Let me summarize what's going to happen here; Some long term members will come in posting about how the newbs don't search and want to be spoon fed and are cluttering up the 3rd gen section. The newbs then reply about how they couldn't find it while searching or they wanted to find new input. The mods start posting about how they try to help the situation. People suggest how to fix the problem. The mods rebuttle and somewhere along the line the thread gets locked.

In the end nothing changes...

 

Exactly, every time there is a stupid newb question there is something like this to go right along with it.

I do agree though that there are alot of the same questions about reliability, "is this a good price", "and how much hp do i make?"

Seriously...it's an easy fix...if you're new, search before you post technical questions. Otherwise do it in the lounge.

Most of the time by the title of the thread you can weed out which ones are rediculous and which are not.
