What Gas for the 3G?

Wondering what fuel you like to use for the 3G? Octane grade, brand? I am looking for what to use in mine. (Can you tell it's my first RX7?)

Ideally you want to run the best octane you can find for your car. However, in my area, 92 octane is like gold and 93 is an undiscovered commodity. I've been running 91 for years without any problems.

Yes it is. I always heard that shell has the best street gas to buy, so I go there. I might drop down to 92, or maybe even 91 because its getting expensive. Actually, I might try Cowboys 93 instead.

I just run 93 all of the time. Usually shell, but I doubt that it really matters. Run 93 or higher to be safe, but many many people have success with 91 and 92 also.

Your best gasses are going to come from Chevron and Shell. I wont buy from anyone else.

Yea I know..but Cowboys 93 is a lot cheaper than Shell's 93. And shell doesn't have 92 or 91. So I thought maybe Cowboys 93 would be just as good as shell 92 or something.. Hell I don't know.

Just sold my Starlet GT Turbo here in england and am about to buy a 3rd Gen, firstly over here we have a standard unleaded fuel at 95ron and super unleaded at 98ron so I shouldn't have any problem with " bad fuel" in the car should I?
And secondly WTF is FD short for ( sorry very newbie question, I feel foolish already! LOL )?

i use the sunoco 94 all the time. when i can't find it, i just use random 93. as long as the name of the gas station isn't something like 'el gaso stopo', i don't care where it is. i do run 110 leaded every now and then when i know i'm going to be abusing the car just for safety. the 94 i run is usually around 2.05-2.15 a gallon and the 110 is $3.60

You've had no problem mixing a few gallons of 110 leaded in with 93/94? No burning out your O2 sensor? Hmm

well, i wouldn't recommend it if you're still on the stock ecu. i have my o2 sensor disabled on my power fc, so it's basically just a plug for a hole in the downpipe. it does tend to kill sensors pretty quickly

I wish our gas up here in Canada was that cheap. We pay $0.87/liter for premium which can be either 91 or 92 octane. The irony of it all is that we are the ones that process the gas up here yet you guys down there get it cheaper. Very interesting.

I get Premium from the nearest station. One time I had a foul up and got 89 once, I turned the boost down on my EBC to be safe.

FD is just part of the vin code. Doesn't mean anything really.

Actually FD is the chassis code for the 3rd gen. The whole code is FD3S. It definitely has meaning.
