What to expect sitting for 6 months?
What to expect sitting for 6 months?
Hey Guys,
Well I will be back home in New Zealand in about a month.
In the mean time my rx is in the shop having a new clutch/flywheel/etc...fitted however the car has pretty much not been turned over for the past 6 months (as i've been overseas) - I will be replacing the battery with a brand spanking new one, but just wondering if there is anything I should look out for when I start it?
Anything I should do before I start it?
Cheers people

Shops only down the road for new sparks but only replced them about 1500km ago.
The tank is also practically empty so will refill that with fresh fuel when I get home and see how it goes

yeah i think it should be sweet as it was running good until I blew my clutch out and its been garaged for about 3 months and under cover for the last 3 months - not like weather has been bad to it
I'm going to hijack this thread as my topic seems to be along the same lines. Last month, I tried to fire up the car when it was 10 degrees F out and the car wouldn't hold idle and died prematurely, causing it to flood. It had been sitting for about 2 months before this. I just fired it up now after a few attempts of long cranking. It started but of course was smoking very badly out of the exhaust. Then, I noticed white smoke from the passenger side area of the engine bay. It's definitely white and doesn't smell sweet. I just did a search and the opinions for this symptom seem to be a coolant leak to a leaking turbo to burning fuel due to the flooding. The car ran beautifully before sitting for the winter. Any ideas and/or reassurance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Condensation wont make smoke come out of the engine bay.
If anything, you have a cracked/leaky coolant hose somewhere that is leaking onto something.
As the engine builds heat (when you say you see smoke when engine is warm) is when this heat is burning off this coolant and thats the smoke you are seeing.

i have the same problem too.. but it sucks even more because when i take of to the gas station, smokes starts coming out from under the hood like my engine is going to go kaboom... but since now its been raining i cant do nothing about it.
