What do you think this is worth/what do you think I should talk them down to?

Specs:
'94 touring, 74k miles on chassis, 10k miles on maztech engine with light porting (can prove mileage), downpipe, greddy catback, racing beat spoiler. Otherwise stock. Asking $17k. Looks pretty damn nice to me.

I think that car is worth more like 12k-13k personally.

Seriously?

Most of the rx7's I see for 12k-13k probably need a rebuild and and aren't usually in very good shape inside and out.

Huh? $17k is certainly reasonable for a 94 with a rebuild and in good condition.

Maybe it's just the weather or camera, but the paint looks a little weather beat to me, which would certainly reduce the value. Interior and seats look good. Why are they missing the touring front lip? What's the boost pattern and CURRENT compression numbers on the engine?

why do hella those pictures look photoshoped to no end... like the interior and stuff in that one pic is all weird. seems like a failrly good deal other then that assuming everythings in good condition, but id say try to negotiate 15 so then you have room to bargin with just my opinion tho.

Because the "Lip" is an option on the base and touring FDs and standard on the R1/R2s

Well, maybe if the car is worth it to the buyer, but when I look at that car with its faded paint, and 70+k on the odo, I don't think 17k. I really haven't heard of any stock FD's selling for that much recently.

I kept thinking that about the paint as well, but it's hard to tell. The car is only a few miles from here so I can go check it out in person soon.

I don't know the boost pattern or compression numbers, but the car is sitting at mazsport...the owner is a customer and the shop is helping him sell it. I figure I could have them fully inspect it before buying it, if it hasn't allready been...

And guys, I'm not going to actually pay $17k for that car, I'm wondering what it's really worth so a fair price can be worked out.

Obviously you've been drinking on this holiday occasion, as every FD sold came with either the base/touring/PEG/PEP lip or the R1/R2 spoiler.

If the paint is actually faded and not just a camera trick, I would most definitely agree that it is not worth $17k. It may have 70k miles but it also has a fresh rebuild from a reputable shop.

I'm sure prices are lower in the midwest than on the coasts for FDs.....at least the west coast anyway.

I just purchased my 94 FD for $17,200. It had a new rebuild and also a TD06 single upgrade. The car had only 48,000 miles on it. I have been looking at numerous FD's for about a year, before I bought this one. The FD your looking at buying looks good, but I might ask for 15,500 - 16,000 for it. That price is just by your pictures alone. Now if you test dive it, and do all you checks, and the car is pristine. Then by all means 17,000 is not a bad price. Still try to talk him/her down if able.

I noticed it was missing the touring lip too. Odd. I forgot about the whole midwest/coast thing too.. FD's are cheaper over here. I got my FD for 13k with about 70k on it, and I could have gotten it for like, 12, but I wanted the power fc + commander .

What do you guys think of this one?
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...rdist=3#vdptop

Clean carfax, definitely need to do some negotiating on price...but what do you guys think it's worth?

I have an uncle in LA that will check out cars for me, would pick one up on my behalf, then would ship it over here if I wanted him to.

On autotrader, there are four manual FD's within 100 miles of my zipcode and one of them is the now known to be salvage title'd FD I made this thread about.

Oops. Thought he was talking bout the R1/R2 as opposed to the standard cheesy Base/PEP/Touring lip.

Now that I looked at the pics again, it also looks like the lip under the rear bumper is missing, too.

I don't think you can really put a price on one of these cars until you have seen the compression test. A 93 with 48,000 miles, assuming it has at least 90+ on all rotor faces, 9 out of 10 on the paint, 9.5 out of 10 on the interior and relatively new tires, good brakes, flawless shifting and negative champaign test, might be worth around $14,000 tops. But then, you've got to see it and have the compression test run. Assuming all is correct, and he's asking $17,500 he's probably hoping to get at least $16,000 for it. If you are going to pay that much for a 93, well, let's hope nothing goes wrong on it for at least a year or two. If it is a good car, you might get him to meet you at $15,000.

I think you should consider the EBAY car loacted in Florida. It has no reserve and the current bid is $15,199. I'm guessing it won't go above $17k. You could always just place a bid and see what happens. I don't know how close it is to you but at least it's in the same state. I traveled about 1,9xx miles for the last FD I bought.

I'm 17 (please withhold comments, there is allready a five page thread on it), my dad is unwilling to drive that far; he's busy, he works a lot. It's a good 250 mile drive. I'm don't want to buy a car unless at least someone I know can check it out and be present while it's being checked out at a rotary shop. There are two cars near LA that I'm going to have my uncle check out for me. That car only has 19k miles, but you never know...last thing I want to do is buy a car that I'm not expecting to blow up on me soon, and have it do just that. If I bought a car for $12-$13k, I wouldn't be too worried about having the motor going out on me because rebuilding it wouldn't **** me off so much.

That silver one with 48k miles is definitely overpriced, and I'd have to see how low the seller would go on that. There's another one with some nice looking blue paint, 93k miles, 10k on rebuilt motor, and RE amemiya rims that the seller is asking 15,5 for or 14 for with stock rims and tires.

I really hate to pass on the ebay car, but there's only 3.5 hours left on it and the auction is considered to be a legally binding contract, so even if I found a shop around there, and had it checked out and something wrong with it turned up, I'm not sure how pleased the seller would be if I tried to back out.

I don't know...do you think it would be safe bidding on this ebay car and having it shipped here without me ever seeing it in person until I take delivery? It just feels like a risk, especially considering how many scammers there are out there. If anybody is going to respond, the auction ends in 3.5 hours and I need some input now.

The car does have a clean carfax by the way.

The guy said he's a licensed dealer, at the price it's at now, it looks like a damn good deal...I got permission from my dad to bid on it, but if the price goes too much higher, I can't bid because florida residents have to pay tax, title, and tag immediately. We're looking at $1200 tax, $1300 for six months of insurance, and whatever registration costs are.

And I'm still not the most comfortable about buying off ebay.

My first FD was listed on EBAY. I had the high bid but it did not meet the reserve. I was able to test drive it though and had a compression check perfrormed and bought it after the auction ended.

Just ask him via EBAY if its ever been wrecked and could you have someone look at it both mechanically and body wise before pick up. I would also run a carfax. Then if the answers he provides do not match what the car is, I believe you could walk away from the sale since it was the car was not accurately represented.

btw his feedback looks ok,seems he sells bikes as expensive as that car

one more thing...I would not pay a cent without going and driving the car... 5-6 hours driving to see the car is well worth it considering the money you are shelling out
