I allready ran a carfax, everything is clean. Estimated one owner.

The only problem I can find with the car is that it's missing the rx7 emblem. There's only three hours left on the auction. I think I may just bid, and if I win, try to get him to take it to a rotary shop first. However, winning is entering a legally binding contract so I don't know how well that will work if something turned up anyway. But if he misrepresents the car, I'm sure we could sue him.

Putting aside all of the age-related issues which have already been discussed before, I think jumping in and trying to win a car at the last minute without spending time talking with the owner is foolish, at best.

Having a clean Carfax record doesn't mean **** other than it's not a salvage or obvious fraud car.

It's a big ******* hassle, but right now I'm thinking if there's anything wrong with it (he claims everything is *perfect*), he can either refund us, or he can come see us in court.

But I'm still not certain about this myself, and my dad HATES ebay with a passion.

Take a pic of the engine compartment showing the edges of all the fenders and bolted edge of the front bumper.

I suspect it has been in a front end collision. Straight on pics would help me prove it.

If I'm gonna call and start asking questions this late with 2.5 hours left, what all should I ask then? So I can this done in one call.

Somehow I doubt he will pop the hood and take pictures at 1030pm on fourth of july. They're licensed dealers, who knows if the car is even in their vicinity.

Why do you suspect that it's been wrecked?

turbojeff may be correct...the passenger headlight looks a little out of line and it looks like it has an R1 lip on it...so the original lip has been replaced/swapped...who knows why

There are several small holes on the front of a FD that are covered with these little cloth covers. If the car has been wrecked the replacement parts will not have the cloth covers on them.

There are a few things missing on the pass side engine bay, 1 rubber hood stop, prop rod holder. One of the cloth covers right near where the hood prop rod holder looks like it is missing. The angle of the photo seems to be taken to hide all the cloth covers from view.

Looking again I notice that it seems the pass fender has been replaced. The front lip is missing and it looks like the hood/bumper gap is uneven. As others have noted the pic is photoshopped, NO WAY would I buy a car that the seller photoshopped the actual pics of the car!

The front of the car is a different color than the rear. Look carefully at the drivers side pic, the door and fender are darker than the 1/4 panel. The front drivers fender looks to have a funny shape right above the tire.

Alcoholic, the reason I suggested this car was it has low mileage and is in the same state as you, which would allow you to go and check the car out completely before spending your money. A lot of individuals have to travel to purchase these FDs. But as Rynberg stated it is late in the game, however you would have up to 5 days after the auction to check it out.

I personally would pass. You really need to check these cars out thoroughly before purchasing them.

I don't really feel very comfortable with buying this car anyway. I'm kind of torn though...just because.....19,000 miles. Oh well.

CYM r1.....I would never pay $20k for that, but how are CYM r1's really? I wouldn't mind buying that car, but the owner would have to come down substantially.
