What do you think?
I posted last week saying that I am in my last year of college and I have made up my mind to stop being scared of the reliability issues with the FD and suck it up because I have been in love with the car since it was released. As I had said before my good friend owns a very sucessfull shop and he is going to do any repairs, as well as myself. My question is since I am most likely going to put a brand new crate motor in this summer when I get it, is there anything else that will really go wrong with the car? Besides the turbos? I will be able to get all parts at cost, so do you still think that this will be a reliable means, and cost effective car for my last year of college? I only drive about 50-60 miles a day. My other concern is that my girlfriends brohter and my two best friends all have bpu++ supras, and they can just beat those cars to death, will I be able to get into the FD race it some, and then not have to worry about blowing something up, or is that always a concern making driving the car hard somewhat of a concern? I just want to drive it every day, go to school, keep it pristine and stretch their supras out. What do you think?
No matter if you have a new motor or not, you'll always have a risk of blowing something....you will always have to baby your 7...... Did you get any internal upgrades ?!? Or is it a stock new motor? In my opinion you should be fine, just don't treat your 7 like your boys treat their supras !! Oh yeah...I've been looking for good prices on a new motor for awhile, due to my "O" rings going out.......Can you hook a brutha up
?!?

2. The car will eventually have problems. When it does, they probably won't get fixed overnight. Unless you have a bike, better get ready to bum a ride.
The FD isn't like a 4-banger. When it's making weird noises, has a coolant or gas smell, you can't just keep driving it until you get around to finding out what's wrong.
3. Get too used to the car. I did drive my FD as a daily driver when I first got it. Eventually, it got old. Didn't feel fast. That was because I got used to it. Having a beater around keeps that "fast" feeling every time you get behind the wheel.
4. I've got too much money into my car to put it through all the crap that happens from daily driving (rocks from the road, tar, door dings). Not that I have a lot of mods, but when I bought it I already had to replace the engine and turbos.... Right now it pains me to look at the car now with the paint chipping, door dings, scratches, etc... As soon as my house is built (target completion date is in November), I'll get it repainted.
5. Shopping... You can't fit a whole heck of a lot into the FD. If you need to go shopping for larger items, it's nice to have a beater you can just throw stuff into without caring about it.
and the list goes on.....
