Question What do you think of this?

I have been looking for an FD for a few months now and this car came up, at the time the dealership selling it was asking $16,000 (also had 18in. wheels and exhaust at that time). So being a newbie, I would like some opinions if this is a good deal or not. Thanks alot.

How bad do you want it? It's only worth what you are willing to spend.

Also, I don't know if you have emissions testing in your area... if you do, that one will cause you some problems there.

seeing all those performance mods w/o an ECU is pretty disheartening. 12k on the new engine, but may as well be 100k.

i had a couple of bad experiences with them along w/ a few others. their warranties aren't that great either. do a search for carnu and you'll get lots of opinions. here's one of the longer threads:

Well I live in PA so there is emmissions testing, but if I can get the car for $10,200 with the stuff it claims to have I thought it was a pretty good deal. I'm kind of worried about the work though, I really don't trust anyone other than myself to do the work. But the auction ends in one day so I have to decide fast but I have wanted an FD for over a year now. I can't decide.

I don't think anyone should buy a car without someone (preferably you) checking it out to protect your interests.

My two cents.

Yeah, I have already passed on this and looking for something better. Only problem is that the FD's in my area are overpriced, they average about $22k from dealers and $17k from private sellers. I'm probably not going to spend more than $18k for one, so I'll just wait.

Here is a prime example and also the closest FD in my area, this is why I have waited for almost a year to get one.

Something to consider is the silver on red color scheme of that FD. Even if the motor's been beaten to hell, the red is gorgeous

EWWW, that red interior is ugly. Anyways, that red FD on autotrader does look nice but is alot. You could probably find one with about the same milage for around 16K.

To each is own, but I have never seen one remotely near my house that had reasonable milage, 5 speed and less than 18K. It sucks.

i live in south jersey not too far from car new. they really dont have a good repuitation from what i have heard. i have talked to the owner of car new at the track. he was racing a supra with his dealer plates on the car. i dont know if you would want to buy a car from some one that does stuff like that.

Thanks, I read the thread about that place and it changed my decsion. Although I am still a bit worried about buying an FD from a private seller who I don't trust and the dealerships around where I live (Right near the auto-mile that has about 30 car dealerships within 3 miles, no exaggeration) never have them.

Buying from a private seller verses a dealer is no different. You still do all the same checks on the car no matter what...

Try and find one closer to stock...easier to trouble shoot.

I was definetly looking for stock above all; and I know that car has been there for at least 5 months! Plus the install looked shitty and the turbo was older than grandma on that one.
