What to do, what to do......keep or sell. Thoughts?
If you were to get a clean, stock FD what would you plan to do with it (keep twins, etc)? If you are thinking you'd be happy to keep it mild, I think you need to reconsider where you'd be after a year with a stock FD. Sounds like you'd inevitably start modding again and quickly realize you lost a ton of money / time getting rid of your current build.
I say stick with it and do what must be done to your FD. If you truly believe 600 whp would suit you better than 450, I really think (a) keeping your car / (b) trading for Supra / Viper / etc are your only options.

This 7 is now so highly modified that its great for an hour but quickly gets to be too much - singile turbo so its smoking hot inside, no A/C, no power steerting, etc. So, since its already not a long use car, I figure why not just go crazy and build it for some real power. Never thought that I'd mod a car out of the "funzone". Its not all about power because as you said there are other cars that can make more power, more easily than a 7, but I still like the 7 more. Hell, if I just wanted power for cheap, I'd get a Z06. But they are only about the power. Cheap interior and build quality. Just not my thing.

If I bought a low mileage near stock 7, I'd probably just keep it as such and enjoy it.
Damn, I'm getting old. Hit 40 last week
600 rwhp (13b) is a waste of time for anything but a drag car, the only way you'll ever hook up is in 4th gear and 80+ mph - the power delivery is too peaky. That power level is far more manageable in 20b and then you have to build the car from the ground up to support it
1st and 2nd gear are useless in my 7 if I really punch it. It will also get squrrrely in 3rd if the tires are cold. I have great summer tires on it but they need to be warm to really work.
^^^then why not get that motor you mentioned for 1k and retune for 500whp so you can hookup
?^^^
I also removed my ps and a/c as you did, no regrets on p/s but I believe a/c will be going back in. I definately dont want to ""mod the car out of the fun zone" like you said. And I'm not even 40, no offense.

As for the 500 hp, I have about that now (440 at the wheels) and I'm used to it. The reason I mentioned detunning is that with a 600 rwhp motor, you can run in different states of tun depending on the boost and fuel. So daily it could be set up for 400 hp but other days, run race fuel with higher boost if you feel the need.
Hey man all I got to say is keep your RX7 for all the money spent, fun times and especially the memories that it probably brought you. I think for a lot of us RX7 owners we tend to keep setting higher goals for our cars, myself included. I remember when I thought that 450 hp in my Fd would be enough. I attained that goal and now it's like you said, you get used to it and it gets boring. I say keep it and go for that 600 hp!! Just look at it this way, you can never be too old for RX7s. Just look at Howard and Ken. They are having the most fun with their cars in recent years. Last I heard Ken just got another Rx7 and Howard is planning to run in the Texas Mile. I say keep the rotary and challenge yourself all over again.
I think the answer is really how much are you hurting for funds. If money is not an option and you feel like you want to continue with this car then drop the $12K. If you really feel you need to spend $12k in a motor rebuild. However if you are hurting for money (like many others) and you don't wish to keep pouring money into something that no longer gives you joy, then try something different.
