what to do next: hood vs I/C

I am in a unique situation right now: I have recently been cut a check by insurance for hail damage last April in the amount of $2400. The hood needs replaced completely, and 800 of that 2400 is allotted for the hood, plus finishing and painting expenses. The rest of the money is for dents on the rest of the car. I can either go with an aftermarket hood and have it on the car and finished for somewhere around 1200, or I can get a used oem hood (vosko) for 150, and get it refinished for another 200 or so, leaving me with plenty of money for a Greddy 2-row. My mods are listed in my sig. What would you guys do in my situation? Also, tell me about the possible dangers of not upgrading my intercooler while pushing the mods I already have. I would take the time to search about that issue but don't want to waste my entire lunch break going through mile long search results. Thanks in advance.

Im sorta in the same situation- But living in florida i decided that since its hotter year round that I should get a vented hood to help keep all the plastics and stuff under hood cooler- especially after i shut down to go inside somewhere.

I was trying to decide on the scoot hood or the apexi PFC.

That must be a lot of freakin dents to eat up $1600!

If it was me - I get more out of driving my car than looking at it. Therefore, I would get the intercooler. I believe the theory about larger intercoolers being better is due to more efficient combustion of cooler air and the larger size flows more air. An analogy is like how turbo cars perform better when it is colder out. More cooler air = more power more efficiently.

My .02 cents

Since you have a black car, fitting a different hood later and getting the paint to match won't be a big deal... get the IC.

If you had a silver car like me, it would never match. I'm kicking myself for not buying a Pettit nose, and having it painted when they did the rest of the car!

1200 is way too much for a hood. are you talking about the scoot version? you should try and pick up a KS hood off ebay for around 300-400. good quality. if you dont have a specific hood in mind. if your interested in just cooling. the I/C and an aftermarket front bumper will cool more then a vented hood i was told. im sure you can get a used hood in stock colors for 200$ or less.
