What to do about rear hatch?

I took the stock wing off of my silver RX7 and I am now wondering what to do with the hatch and the holes.
Also the paint has a different shade where the wing was.
I really like the sleek look without the wing but now i have to do something about the holes and the paint.

Should I have the holes filled and the hatch repainted?
Should I buy the carbonfiber hatch and paint it?
Should I order a brand new hatch from mazda?

Any suggestions?

I would have the holes filled and get the hatch repainted. But if you have some extra dough laying around you could go for the carbon fiber hatch, it seems like a nice piece.

I would never take out my wing. I feel like somthing is missing when I see a wingless one.

Anyway you will surely have to do as afterburn said but silver is a hard match.

sound like you would have to paint the whole car you dont want to have a shiney hatch and the rest of the car faded silver, you can get rubber plugs to cover the holes and paint them silver til you get the car painted.

I just got back from the bodyshop and they quoted me $450 to weld the holes shut and paint the top and bottom of the hatch. Does that sound pretty fair?

You could get the the CF hatch for $550 from rx7store: http://www.rx7store.net/index.asp?Pa...ROD&ProdID=828
Glass installation probably wouldn't cost more than $50. If the CF look is not for you, then paint would be pretty cheap as there would be no prep work and you could probably turn around and sell your old hatch and wing in the for sale section.

edit: After looking at the perpetual rx7store CF hatch group buy thread, it looks like there are some delivery issues. I'm in the same situation as you a2zpcwiz, so keep us updated and maybe post some pics after you go forward (with whatever decision you make).

I thought about that. But shipping is about $150 for the CF hatch. The body shop could paint it for $250. That would put me at $950 versus $450.

I just talk to rx7store.net and they said that I have to use the lexan window, and that is an additional $350 so CF hatch is not worth it.

Yikes! I won't be entertaining any notions of CF hatches for the forseeable future as I have much more important parts to spend my money on.

Hey, what hood did you get? Believe it or not, I'm also potentially in the market for one as one.
