What is the difference between 93 cali ecus and 93 non cali ecus?
Im going to try and buy an m2 non cali 93 ecu for my 7 off of a fellow forum member. I live in cali, does that mean my car has the cali ecu? How will my car run with a non cali ecu? any check engine lights?
thanks in advance

The only difference I know of is that the cali ECU's use an electronic EGR that will cause a "check engine" light if it is unplugged or malfunctioning. That means if you have a non-cali ECU, then you can eliminate the EGR without causing the "check engine" light.
You can look at the emissions placard on the underside of your hood to determine whether or not you have a California model or a federal model. You can use a non-cali ecu in a cali car but not the reverse. Or if you have a 95, it doesn't matter, because 95s don't have an electronic egr valve.
I live in Ca. I bought my car from a guy that lived in Ore. It was originally on the east coast. Noproblems with smog or anything here. I would assume that an out of state ecu would be fine.

I just checked under my hood, and my car does have the cali ecu.
so my question,
If I buy a 93 non cali M2 ecu, Will it make my check engine light come on? How will it run in the cali model?
thanks again guys
