What did they do to my boost???
I believe in doing things right when you have everything appart... so Porting the wastegate when you have the Turbos appart would be a good idea...
You'll want to anyhow sooner or later... the question to me is, if you have an intake leak, and can live with it for a couple of months 'till you can either bring it to pettit.
You'll most liekly won't find a deal on a DP, so you might be +-$0 there and can get things done by someone you trust...
Trust is very important in a custumer mechanic's relationship, if he breaks it, or you let him, it's all over... Don't let any mechanic tell you what's needed... just like with your health, ask someone else for an oppinion, I'd be less than suprised that once the LIM has benn "Replaced" it will work like before, the question is 1) has it really been replaced !? 2) With what another shitty paper seal !?

Ok, the first set of bills you posted all look fine to me. They are also things that really should have been dont to make sure your car stays safe. About the overheating he was talking about, thats cause your IC isnt getting enough air so your air temps are hotter.
As for the new work order, I'd say 9hrs on the lim job is probably a little high, BUT it really is a lot of work. I bet if you call Mazda its prob close to a 9hr job. Sounds like your mech is charging $80/hr and about $30 for the new gaskets.
The $100 to port the wg isnt bad and yes you should have it done while its off the car. The DP should be FREE installation cause they have to remove it anyway. I'd tell him you'd give him $175 for the dp since its used.
Thats $275 + lim gasket install.
I think Cam at Pettit charges actuall time like "book" time. If it takes him 5hrs he'll chrg 5 hrs. Most shops including dealerships, ect go by the ASE book that specifies how many hrs it should take and thats what they base the bill off of. The "book" prob says its a 9hr job. Actually for someone thats not familiar it really would be a 9hr job.
Personally if it were my car I'd take it to Pettit cause Cam knows most everything and in addition it sounds like it woud same you a couple hundred.

I just noticed you said his LIM price wend from around $750 to like $950.....$950 is WAY to much, $750 was borderline, its prob what the dealer would charge.
I'd definatly drive to Pettits, it'll save you $300 plus you'll be using a more reputable shop.
BTW - ask Cam since he'll have the dp off anyway if he'll replace it with an aftermarket for no labor....I bet he will.

first try disconnecting the vattery and reseting the ecu. Then if that doesn't work look to see if he tampered with your iac. then look at all your vaccum lines to see if any are disconnected. And if none of that stuff works then u take they car back to him and tell him to fix that **** for free. Let me know how it goes.

I cannot believe some of you are still doing simple comparisons like "20$ for a 4" piece of sheet metal and 4 screws is crazy."
Hello, you're acting as if the 20$ is JUST materials.
It is TIME and MATERIALS. He has to get the metal, cut th e metal, drill the holes, mount it.
At an hour rate of let's say 70$/hour, that would be 35$/half hour, but usually hour minimum.
This is why mechanics get pissed off at customers - the customers look at something and justify only materials into their thinking.

BTW: LIM gasket replacement:
The entire UIM complex.
All connected vacuum lines, electrical lines, injectors, etc.
Pull the turbos
All turbo piping, all intake piping, all airpump piping. Essentially the entire top half of the engine, including the turbos.
You really should just do the job yourself if you want to learn.

I have talked to mike lowe on the phone before and he does talk to you like you khow nothing but he seems to know what he is talking about.
I had my lim gasket replace a few years ago at mazda city here in jax. They charged me 950 just for labor and another 390 in parts if you include all of the exhaust gaskets. I did it my self last year and it took a lot longer that 3 hours to do.
