Question What are the chances or needing to change this?

I was with a friend of mine who is a mechanic, not specifically for rotaries but he knows somewhat about them... Having said this he told me that just by hearing my exhaust sound when I first turn on my car, sounded like I needed to replace my coolant pump. What do you reckon? I never had an over heating problem...

thank you for the comment
well he told me this because his car was making the same or similar sound through the exhaust. you know how the rotaries have a rough start up until its a little warmed up? so he was saying that since *vrum vrum vrum vrum* sounded like the water pump was having trouble? guess its like that for piston engines

that is a new one to me. if they dont leak, make a noise when spinning because the bearing is bad or in very few cases stop providing flow it is fine.

Talking

You should let him hear the sound of a bridge or J ported engine. He'll probably tell you your pistons are fried

That guy is an idiot, or he likes to just run off at the mouth because he might be jealous of such a nicely engineered car that he could never figure out. LOL

A failed water pump making the exhaust sound funny?? That's a new one for me. You might want to check your blinker fluid and grease your muffler bearings while you're at it.

Maybe your idle was low or something and he thought the waterpump was giving too much resistance and not spinning freely?
I say hes a moron though like my albanian friend says "100 percent no doubt in my mind man"

The water pump is not connected in any way to the exhaust. Don't take any advice about your car from this guy.

LOL: The water pump is connected to the exhaust via the flux capacitor, better change the water pump before the your car jumps to another dimension!
