what causes leaky vacuum lines to reduce boost pressure?
I've heard this a lot on this forum (I think) but a mechanic I was talking too (admittedly not one familiar with the Rx7) said that a leaking vacuum line should not cause a boost loss.
Does the boost actually leak out of the vacuum line, or is it something else?

That mechanic your talkin to should stick to changing oil at pep boys.Yes the air in the vaccum lines is the air that comes from the turbo system to leak some off would be leaking boost Duh! I guess that "mechanic"
would assume that opening a window in January doesnt cause your house to get cold either. I hope your not letting this guy work on your car.
P.S. You should ask him , who is burried in Grants tomb?

It is not necessarily the case that the loss off boost happens because it all leaks out of a control line.
If there is a leak, it may cause the actuators (ie. wastegate, turbo control, etc) to malfunction, which can lead to boost problems.
