He removed all the cats and it is loud. The sound of it sounds really mean. With the silencer on it’s extremely quiet. It is almost stock db. The downside the silencer is very restrictive and we can feel the power loss. He has never had a cat with the GT-Spec. He has tried Pettit Racing Resonated and did not notice a difference in sound level so he removed it. By the way the exhaust looks 100x better in person.

I appreciate all the responses and especially the first hand experience with that exact car and sound.
I am on the fence about what exhaust to get. I don't mean to turn this into a "what exhaust should I get" thread. So feel free to ignore it from this point on. I'd like something quiet and something what won't melt my bumper, I'm keeping the stock cat, only have an HKS dp. I go back and forth from a racing beat dual, greddy evolution, tanabe medallion concept g, and I liked the look of goodfella's catback.
Anyways I appreciate the feedback on the noise level. It is probably louder than what I am looking for.

If you're looking for something that isn't obnoxiously loud your options are limited. I've been running the racing beat catback for 9 years now and the sound levels are pretty close to stock as long as your're not driving with your gas pedal mashed to the floor.

I don't have any experience with FD exhausts besides my own but everyone says they're all loud unless you get racing beat which everyone seems to agree that it's quiet.
So I just looked for something in the FS section and ended up with corksport and was pleasantly surprised with how mellow it is. I actually wouldn't mind if it was louder but I have a MP waiting to be installed.
I think your best bet is to find some other FDs with exhausts and see how they sound and go from there.

I've never been able to find a good sound clip of a greddy evolution on an FD with the stock cat. Either Racing Beat or Greddy Evolution is what I'm going to do.

Stock is very quiet. I have a nice HD video I took of my car so I could compare it to whatever aftermarket catback I get. I'm reluctant to post it because it has my license plate #. If I had a way to blur my plates I'd post it so everybody could reminisce about how quiet their FDs once were.

Problem solved.
