What is this c.y.m. R1 worth?
A local RX-7 owner has recently expressed interested in selling his car. It is a competition-yellow-mica R1 with 46K miles and it is in great condition. I know that the c.y.m. R1 is a rather collectable automobile as there was only 350 ever made. What would you say this car is worth in today's market?
wouldnt place it on the market for less than 19k in stock form.. id assume there are less than that of the original 350 left..
ive had an offer for one of mine in mild modded form for 22k... there will always be someone willin to pay the price..
just a matter of findin or waitin for the right buyer...

i agree with above post in the 20k-ish range simply because it's a cym
if it was any other color it would only be 16-17.5ish. either way you should scoop it up because there not many cym around but only get it if you wanna keep it stock ish because once you mod it is just "like every other fd" and will lose its value as a cym r1.

Sell it fast for 15k
Sell it slow for 18k
Keep it for a few years under lock and and key and maybe one day 21k
Currently there appear to be several nice cym's on the market and none have sold.
Bottomline:
If you have a nice place to keep it. List it for 18k. If you need to sell it list it for less and take the 1st reasonable offer.
IMO 45k isn't exactly a low mile FD. That's about mid life for both the engine and turbos. Given what's currently available I wouldn't begin to consider any stock FD w/ 45k miles listed at 19k.
I think ebay and this forum are great places to get realistic values for what 3rd gens are selling for. Just check the forum and ebay once a week or so you'll have a decent approximation of what these cars SELL for.
Depending what state a seller resides in he will probably loose 1500 to 2000 annually in taxes, tags, ins. and interest on the TRUE value of their car by holding out for the RIGHT buyer.
Good luck!

That's what I love about 3rd gens or most nice sports car in general.
You can drive em for while and not loose too much in depreciation.
However listing a car for sale and leaving it in storage for a year or two trying to get that extra 2 grand is retarded.

its not just another fd as its still a cym..
This reminds me of a long time ago, I had the chance to buy a low mileage CYM for ~13k. I passed it up for a SSM. In the end, I'm happier with the silver as I think it's a better color for the day-to-day.
