If you are talking strickly performance, just as noted here in the thread, the FD will be faster and much eaiser to upgrade.

I've owned both.. I currently have a '93 VR FD, and I did have a '94 Red 300zx (which is what I traded for the FD). I loved the car. It drove nice, the only things I ever had to replace on the car in the 3 years I owned it were:

1. Battery
2. Brakes

That's it... What have I replaced on my FD in the 4 years I've had it? You really don't want to know...

However, the 300zx is a rather bulky car. It's not so much a "pure sports" car like the FD. Yes, you can upgrade it, but it gets quite expensive REAL quick.

If you are trying to decide between the two, think about what you want. Are you looking for straight performance, or just a nice sexy sports car to attract women? The 300zx is a nice looking car. Better looking than the FD? Well, that up to each person, but the 300zx is still a better looking car than 90% of the other vehicles on the road. Plus, I really loved having t-tops... I really do miss that part of the 300zx...

glass_man: Because there's always someone who just wants to know which is faster without doing any research at all for him or herself. I think posts like this are stupid. "FD vs Z WHICH WILL WIN??????????" The person posting it is obviously a retard. www.supercars.net. Look at the 0-60 times, and the 1/4 mile times if you wish.

And what kind of person tries to decide on which car he/she should buy on which is faster stock 0-60 and 1/4 mile? Stupid people. That, or just 15 year olds that like to dream.

Any car enthusiast who's into sports cars is going to factor 0-60, 60-0, 1/4 mile, skidpad, ect. into their decision. What's the whole point of the sports car?...to go fast (or just to know you could if you wanted to ). Stats and looks were a HUGE reason for me getting my FD...I definitely didn't get it for its worry-free reliability.

In the long runit doesnt matter which is faster, they are both equally good in their owns ways. If your going to put the wrench time in, then it wont really matter, it all end up at personal preference.

I had to pull up a old thread because u dont say much about the z besides dissing the car. Its like you guys dont take in that there are other great import cars out there.

Nobody has dissed the Z in this thread. We said the RX7 was better. Who cares if I'm not mistaken this is an RX7 forum. We take into consideration that there are other great import cars, but we think the FD is the best. If you wanna think the Z is better go back to that forum.

Is it just me, or are there TONS of posts just being dug up from the grave lately??? WTF?

Anyway, one thing I can say about the RX7 forum is that people at least usually give intelligent responses when people ask 'Which is better, a (insert Supra MKIV, 300ZTT, Integra) or an FD RX7'. Most people point out the good and bad of both cars, and then give reasons they went with the RX7. If you asked this on a Chevy, Ford, or Honda forum, you'd just get flamed off the board.

I've noticed that to . The people on the Chevy/Ford forums seem to be really close-minded. If it's not a V8+ and American-made...it can't be fast.

disclaimer - This is what I've noticed. I'm not making assumptions. I'm a member of a few car forums.

I really like the Z too, and I wouldn't mine owning one. They have an awesome interior, have the nissan reliability (I don't know anything about the TT's reliability though), and look pretty nice. The 7 is just much more of a pure sports car, and looks a lot better, in my opinion. Which was what I wanted.

sk8world the only reason you dont see any rx7s around is because thay dont last on the other hand the z is very reliabal.

P.S. they just dont last.

91 tt will hang or beat an rx in the quarter @ 13.7sec. 0-60, not a chance. Skidpad, not a chance...... All of the other years are considerably slower...... I agree, with the statement about reliability and interior.... The two are apples and oranges though......

SMZ TallGuy, Maybe production amounts and price value also play a part in that (not really sure about the 300 production but I would guess they made more than the 3rd gen rx7). I dont disagree about some 3 rd gens having problems but mine has 93k on factory motor and stock turbos! Still runs great and I never see any others when I am on the street (well almost never).ey

Everyone has there own taste in cars so drive what you like but most people are not impressed by the looks of the 300 included. But most of that is because you see so many of them. Its like the new vet. When I first saw one I was like DAMN those are sweet. But now that everyone and there brother have one I dont even turn my head.

I had a z for 5 years and loved it. The z is the perfect run around town daily driven sports car. The fd is the perfect track/autocross/kick everyones *** around town car. Personally if I want to run around town I'll use my old subaru with 140k miles but I have my fd for the other 3 much more important reasons.
