Talking What is the best way to change spark plugs?

Here's another question from a beginner !

Is it easier from top or underneath the car?
What do I have to remove to access them?

What kind of cables and spark plugs you recommend?
NGK Platinum?

Please give me part numbers if you can !

its very simple by going under the vehicle and changing the plugs. I just used OEM spark plug cables since it fits perfect.

from the bottom is the best/ easiest way...
BUR9EQP for leading
and
BUR7EQP for trailing..or was it the other way arround..u run all 9's so i forget

for cables i recomend taylor spiro pros

Yeah it's the other way around ..if you are highly modded you might want to think of all 9's...

I have no issue with the Magnacor 10's...and yes way easier from underneath the car...a lift would be cake... Still hard to get too though.

BTW.. what is the stock gap? And how should the gap be adjusted if highly modded?

gap? i didn't gap mine....any adverse effects?

Glad this thread popped up now since I plan on changing mine for the first time this weekend.

So here's my dumb question...how the hell do you jack the car up??? I have an R1, so I don't think ramps will fit under the air dam, and my heavy-duty jack won't slide under the car! Maybe I just need to find another jack.....

take your ramps, get 2 boards, place the boards half way on, and half way off the ramps, giving it enough of an angle that it doesn't hit your front when your going up

how the hell do you jack the car up???
Use a floor jack on the driver's side and put a jack stand in place for safety when you reach a desired height. You have never changed the plugs in your car before???

use the jack under the side rail @ the center w/ a block of wood on the jack to prevent damage to the rail - (I use a block w/ a groove cut in it that fits tight to the rail, Floor, and rocker panel) then put Jack stands under the stock jacking points.

alt is to drive the front up on a couple 2x8's then a floor jack will fit under the front. use the jack under the front part of the subframe

Makes sense. So you can jack one side up high enough to get under there and to the plugs? I actually don't have any ramps yet, but figure if I'm going to be doing this every 3k miles I might as well invest in some. I'll try they board idea if I get them.

And nope, I haven't changed the plugs yet. I just bought the car a few months ago and just recently read that they have to be changed so frequently. I have no idea when they were last changed so I'm sure they're needing it.....

I use two pieces of 2x12 for each side. One 3' and one 6' and drive on those. Then I jack up the car in the middle under the front support bar. Just make sure to place the jack stands inside the welds on the support bar. No problems.

I replace from bottom with stock plugs and Taylor Spiro-Pro wires.
