In my opinion, Advance/ ARD alternators are the most technologically advanced alternators available for the RX7. They have been developed by Mitsubishi R&D team, and are referred to as the 9th generation alternators.

ARD is the one I have on my FD, and I think it's the best value for money, even after paying all shipping & import duties.

I have the irp upgraded one last I checked. Don't remember the amperage though.. was good for my 600hp on my previous build... hope it will be good enough for this build now.

Unfortunately my IRP upgraded version is failing. I have had it for 2 years,.but only driven maybe probably 3k miles on it. Once warmed up maybe get 13V and can dip as low as 12.8.

Xavier - reason I was considering the bastards or DC power is for my single turbo build. I have heard great things about the ARD, but I think I will need a 180amp to power all my stuff.

Very similar story for me. I was dumb enough to try the irp alternator as well. Started getting inconsistent and dropped voltage after 4 years and only 2,700 miles. I bought a DC power to replace it as I don't want to compromise my single turbo build.

Great info, thanks for sharing the link. That fill factor discussion is very interesting. Glad I decided on the ARD unit.

I appreciate you calling this to everyone attention. I tried to speak with someone at Power Bastards and they were not able to tell me which Stator Core is used. I did however look at DC Powers website, watched the video Rob Dahm made, and it looks like they are using a G9 type Stator. After speaking with them, he mentioned that this is the reason they custom mill the front of the alternator. To allow more room for the larger stator. So for me, I think it would be a decision between the ARD and DC Power.

Now I need to figure out if 180 Amps will be enough for my single turbo build.
