I am thinking of selling the car with a blown engine. What do cars like that go for?

I'd say between $6-9K depending on the year, mileage, and condition.

Yeah condition is important. The engine will cost about 3500+ to replace so figure what you would sell the car for and subtract the price of the motor and install. How about the transmission? Is it far behind? Lets say it is a low milage 94. I would pay 10k for it without a motor. OF course that a general statement. Most people like to drive the car before they buy it. In this case its a gamble because the engine may be at the top of a long list of things that the car needs. And they cant really see the syncros are shot or the clutch is spent until they get to drive the car. So the engine isnt always the only thing to consider when buying a car that isnt running. Of course its less of a gamble when the car has low miles.

I bought mine with 111k miles with a blown motor for 6,000 bucks. The interior was ok. But the body needs paint.

You have to subtract a little more than the $3500 engine price because of a level of security that comes with buying a car that is actually working because the buyer has no guarantee that just the motor is blown and also no guarantee of price. This is called risk aversion. You can't just sum the parts, that's just like people trying to recoup every penny they spent on "mods" when they sell a car by listing "mod" by "mod" with price, which is soooo lame. Take a good $5000 off of the KBB.

I have 2 engines. Enough to get it running again. I thought about taking the good pieces off the 2 engines and getting it running again, but I don't know if i want to spend any more time with it. I have decided to sell it......I guess I need to move this to the FS part of the Forum.
