Question What is this

So after 18 weeks I finally get my car back from Mazda with a new engine under warranty. While they were doing the engine I also had them replace my vaccum hoses with silicone ones. When I went to pick up the car I see this long hose coming out from some where around the back of the engine with a valve on the end (the one in the picture). The hose ends back by the fire wall on the driver's side, it is zip tied in place.

I know that this hose was not there before. I asked Mazda about it and they told me it was fine and not to worry, ya right. The valve obviously is suppose to connect to another hose and go some where.

Can anyone tell me what it is, what it does and where it comes from and should go to. I can't seem to find it in the vaccum hose diagram.

Thanks

It won't work from image station the way you want.

Just copy the url of the image and paste it into a new browser window.

Can you zoom out on that picture a little? Looks like the Mazduh mechanics did it again! Managed to somehow do something wrong while it's in getting "fixed". That looks like a checkvalve maybe shoved somewhere to make it "look like it's going somewhere." That's my guess...

Ya, thats what I figured.

The valve has been placed up high right on the fire wall on the drivers side, right in the corner. Its obvious that they don't know where it or the hose should go. It is to a factory wire with one of the zip ties from the silicone hose kit. I can't see where the other end of the hose is coming from. I will have to remove the UIM to see better.

If I took a shot zoomed out you probably wouldn't be able to see the valve at all.
